I don't know what it is but he just loves to sharpen his nails on my jeans, while I am wearing them. Any other kitties do that?

OUCH!!

Genever doesn't usually use me or my clothes as a scrtatching post... my laptop bag, all the time. Couch, often. Scratch boards, sometimes..
But not my legs. Yet.

If only she'd shake the rolling in the litterbox habit..

Abbey did that for quite a while. She finally took the hint after the millionth time detaching her from my leg. She's also stopped climbing me, thank goodness!

My 6 month old kitten, Finnegan, tries to sharpen his claws on my jeans all the time. However, he gets scolded with a loud "NO!" and is slowly learning the proper places to scratch. The others seemed to go through this phase as well, but they've gradually learned and now only scratch on approved surfaces -- their cat trees, their cat condo, their scratching posts and boards, and on their carpet mats. It definitely took a lot of work, but since my walls are now fabric, I'm grateful that they decided to catch on.

Hopefully, Jake will get the idea that jeans (and his mommy's legs!) are not for scratching. I certainly can relate to how uncomfortable that is and I have the scratches to prove it!

Aya likes scritching my jeans too.

It would be a neat project to make a bluejean kitty scratching post. Just hammer together a wood pole and a base. Cover it with some padding or sisal, then take a leg from an old pair of bluejeans and pull it over the top, maybe sew the end closed first?

Doubt it would discourage them from thinking denim is the ideal material for attacking, though.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Hercules does it but only when I call him over and do my pss psss pss and scritch on my legs with my fingers. Then he just extends himself up my legs for head rubs. He doesnt go on a full out scratch fest. GiGi taught him to use the scratching posts since those are what she likes. He never used a scratching post before till we got her and now both sisal posts get used.....they used to just sit in the corner collecting dust!!

YES!! I thought I was the only one who was a human scratching post. My kitty does that too when he's impatiently waiting for his food!

I have 2 cats & they both like pawing at my legs with jeans on. They don’t do it at my bare legs. I think they do it for attention. Bring food to the bed, Autumn will claw at my legs. Go to the sink in the bathroom or medicine cabinet, Iris will claw at my legs. Most of the time if you’re looking at them straight on, they won’t do it. 🐈
