So, I have to write a 5 page paper on Hamlet. (grrr) I have the DVD with Mel Gibson and Glenn Close. My teacher (I go online) said that I could get sources from anywhere and she would accept anything as long as it wasn't plagirized.

SO here is what she gave me..

1. Make a journal of questions!
2. What is the difference between the script and the movie?
3. Mention certain quotes in your paper from the movie or from script.
4. blah blah, anything else we can think of pretty much.

This is my midterm paper so try to make it juicy. =)

Thanks ladies and gentlemen.
Please pray for me, I hate Shakespeare! LOL

I'm not sure what you are asking.

That sounds like you are asking us to write your paper for you?

Or are you just asking for sources to articles talking about Hamlet?

It's a very good play, you really should try and read the play.

I have read the play and I hated it
I have the HARDEST time with (thee, thine, thy) LOL.

It's like research, as many articles as you can get on it I am watching the DVD tonight and hopefully will stay awake through it, I am bad about sleeping through movies!

If you have never ventured through online schools, it is completely different from public schools. You have longer to work on stuff and grading is done differently. I will source everyone in if you know something. Otherwise, any links would be greatly appreciated! =)

and I WOULD NEVER ask ANYONE to do my work. I am not that lazy!

I completely agree. Hamlet is my FAVORITE shakepeare play and it is the basis for many other movies. I too am not sure what you are asking...are you having trouble understanding it? I saw an amazing production of it about a year ago.

YOu really should try and read it and you will be surprised at how much it influences popular culture.

I never got the point of reading plays; they are meant to be seen...

I watched that movie with Mel Gibson instead of thoroughly reading it for English class.

That said, because these old plays are long (people back then must have had much longer attention spans or nothing better to do than sit around all day and watch) they always edit them down for stage and particularly movie adaptations.

I would suggest sitting down with a copy of the play in one hand and the remote in the other and watch the movie. Maybe ten or twenty minutes then go back over the text and look for major changes, edits, also areas where the actors actions on stage (there is a lot more to a play than just the script) impact your impression of a character or an event. Take notes. This would be a good place to start.

To write a five page paper you need to confine yourself to one problem like how one scene or character is impacted by the way it is edited or portrayed in the movie (to take a spin on a topic your teacher gave you).

Thank you so much for that information. I am going to do that all day tomorrow since I'm off.

I really appreciate that, thanks! =)

Here is a whole google search of links comparing Hamlet the play to Hamlet the movie version

Links

Remember, your teacher has access to google and it's not hard to type in "what is the difference between Hamlet play and movie?" and get all of those same links. So read what is written, contemplate what has been said, and do your own version. And don't forget to provide the source links.

Dang, now I want to go borrow some books on Shakespeare!
