My question is about relaxing.....

What do you do to relax? or unwind after a long tiresome day? or cool off if you are angry? Or just what do you do "for you"....to keep your emotional/mental health in check?

Weather permitting I walk and walk and walk and walk. Now that the weather has changed I will be doing a 5 to 6 mile walk today from one town to another with alot of hills, it's a great feeling and it really clears my head. When the weather is bad I stretch, and take a hot bubble bath!

I'm a walker, too, weather permitting. Gardening also helps take my mind off my troubles.

After a long, grueling day, I come home and cook. When I'm elbow-deep in yeast dough, I tend to forget my day's troubles. Kneading dough is a great stress-reliever; DH always says that I make some of my best breads when I'm frustrated about something. I like to chop veggies for dinner or for soup or stew. The whole food prep thing makes me feel better.

I also read or go for long walks. During the summer, I'll work outside in the flowerbeds, doing some weeding or cleaning. Sometimes, I'll jump in the pool and either lounge on a raft or swim some laps to burn off excess energy.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Im a junk food eater. Theres nothing like a bag of peanut butter and almond M&Ms or hershey kisses to make me feel better!! Snuggling with the kitties help too. But currently the stress level in the house is at a minimum with the exception of finacial troubles but they always seem to work themselves out. So I just do what I do and keep going its not worth it getting all worked up anymore about something I cant fix.

I'm another walker here which is why I LOVE that it is starting to warm up! If the weather isn't good then I'll workout at home, read or have a nice long bubble bath.

Sleep.

After a long tiresome day (which usually translates into physically tiring) I'd probably need a walker to go on a walk.

I tend to try to take my mind off bothersome things so I take out a book and read and go into another world. Also watching TV takes my mind off problems and it is a good way to relax.

I go to the gym or bike (if it is nice outside), I too enjoy cooking as a way to reduce stress and tension (nothing like chopping veggies) and I read.

Normally, I would take my dogs out for a nice long walk! Or play Sims or take a long bath or read. Or all of the above.

Now, though, at 8 1/2 months pregnant, I am SO tired, all I want to do is sleep.
That's my relaxing, my comfort, my stress relief, my fun, everything other than work and eating.

If I'm at work and steamed, I check out cuteoverload.com to look at cute animal photos.

If I'm steamed after work, my husband and I usually go out to dinner so I can vent, eat some good food that is better than I would cook, and maybe have a beer...

If I'm just frustrated, I will work out to distract myself and get out some energy.
Baths are nice too.

Ideally, I'd love to have a massage....but it's SO expensive. I have 2 gift certificates for 1 hour massages, but when I'm exhausted from work, it's usually too late in the day to schedule a massage (you know, when you really, really need one now.) When I come home from work, physically and emotionally at my absolute limit, I pill the cats, feed the cats, scoop boxes, and collapse into bed.
