Not emotionally moving....
I mean moving your home.

I've been thinking alot lately of moving. It scares the heck out of me. But it is cheaper to live elsewhere and the weather would be better for my health.

Have you moved? How far? Do you regret it? Whats the most difficult part? Anything you wish you knew then that you know now??

I am looking at Florida, Tampa Bay area mostly. Probably won't happen but I feel like I need to look into it at least.

Tampa Bay area is where I'd go, or north around the curve of the panhandle.

We've moved several times, often a long ways. From MA to TX, from TX to PA, from PA to TX, from TX to AR and back.

I'd rather be horsewhipped than move again. Next time, I'm not packing. It's going to be a fire.

I have so little I could get a small uhaul and be okay with that. But it sure would be tempting to just leave it all and start over. I have a hard enough time packing for an across town move....
nevermind cross state!

I worry about the cats also. Rocko gets terribly motion sick and poops everytime he travels anywhere.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Moving doesnt bother me as long as I have ample time to pack. When BF and I moved from Shamokin to Sunbury it was only about a 20 minute travel but I had the house packed within a month from when we decided to the night we moved. I was in charge of the cats and him and his brother got their dads roll back and basically loaded out entire apartment up in a couple hours. I got off work we packed the cats me and his brothers gf took one and him and his brother took the other and off we went. Literally 8 hours in one night we were completely moved. It was so easy. The next move we make will hopefully be the last and should be just as easy. The only thing is we have aquired more stuff and more pets. Should be interesting.

I moved from England to Canada, I don't regret it as such, but I do miss the job i had back home and my family. The hardest part was making new friends, finding a new job etc all at the same time - calling my friends back home just was not the same as they didn't know the areas I was talking about etc

I've never moved farther than 15 miles north or south of metro Denver...
Packing and moving are my most hated activities in the world. I don't even like to pack for a trip...

Good luck!

Wow, across seas! Thats a move! Wow.

I worry about work mainly. I have a very good job now and hate the thought of going through the interview process and what if I hate my job but am stuck..............................

In six years we moved from Texas to Massachusetts to California to British Columbia (home, two post-docs, then permanent job). I liked purging our junky stuff every 2.5 years and moving very light. We've been here for 8 years now and I have to get rid of junk all the time, it seems, especially with a kid.

Downsides to moving are making new friends (gets harder the older you get), getting new doctors, getting a wardrobe for the weather, and figuring out where to get the stuff/brands that you want. Other than that, it is exciting and there's lots of new stuff to see and do when you move to a new place!

I moved from Pennsylvania to California almost 3 years ago, but it was kind of easier for me because I had a place to 'land', so to speak. My BF and I were doing the long distance thing, and he was cool with me moving in with him, and it's actually worked out great for both of us; we're going to be looking for a house to buy soon actually! I just packed up the car and drove across the country. I had visited several times so I knew some people already which made it easier. I didn't have a job though and lived off savings for about 3 months. I was actually getting to the point of thinking about driving back if I didn't find something soon. Luckily I did, and it's worked out pretty good!

Now, my BF moved to California from England because of his job. He got here 3 days before 9/11. He owned a house so sold it and his furniture and put some other stuff in storage, and came here with 2 suitcases. He's very sociable so he made friends pretty fast. Me, I couldn't have done what he did.

Whatever you decide to do and however you do it, best of luck!!

Ack! It is called a move because all the other 4 letter words are taken.
I have done it so many times, I would almost rather sell almost everything I have rather than move it again. The very thought gives me the shivers, but if I had the chance to leave NC and go back to GA, I would do it in a heartbeat.
We moved from here to Kansas City, stayed there for 2 years, then back to Augusta, then a really stupid move back to NC, even though it seemed like a good idea at the time.
The hardest thing is packing and loading. Once I get where I am going, I am fine. For a little while, I know where everything in my house is. Kitties always ride with me, and don't really cause me a lot of trouble, except that I hate knowing how hard it is on them. They like to listen to the radio, and one move the radio stopped working. I had to sing to them for the last 100 miles to keep them from howling. Fred escaped from the carrier and jumped on my head going through downtown Nashville at 5 pm. It was a nightmare! He ran a few laps around my neck, and I thought I was about to lose an eye. When we got to Kansas City, I looked like I had lost a fight with a cheese grater. It was a good lesson about medicating cats for a trip. BAD idea!
The good news is that most people tell me they have not had such bad luck with moves.
The best thing is going to a new place and seeing new stuff. I love new sights. As much as I say I hate it, I would probably move to a new place tomorrow, given the opportunity. I think I would really love to live in Austin, TX.

I HATE moving. Badly. I hope I don't do it again for a VERY long time. It is much easier when you hire movers to do all of the heavy lifting, etc. for you, but still, not an enjoyable experience for me, and not at all for the cats. Thankfully I LOVE where we live now, our landlord is my aunt and uncle, and everything about it works for us.
