I just had my new mattress set delivered. I ordered and purchased it over a month ago and it's finally been delivered. I wish I could've had it sooner, but since my bedroom was still in the process of being remodeled, it just didn't make sense. My room is now just about 95% finished and I'll be sleeping up there for the first time in a long time tonight. All that's left is putting away some small things and organizing the rest. And, for me, that's the easiest part. I'm just so excited about the bed set. It's my first new mattress and foundation ever and I can't wait to sleep on it tonight!

I decided on a full-size, Southerland mattress and foundation. I think the manufacturer is the Nashville Bedding Company. My old mattress set was older than I am (it was pushing 35 and I'm 27!) and was in poor condition. I had looked forever to find a new set that I liked that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg and finally found it. It's a plush pillow-top mattress and is so comfy! It's a lot taller than my old mattress, though, so it feels odd to be up so high, but I kind of like it! I've not fussed with it too much yet, but I'll be getting the mattress cover, sheets, and comforter on it later this afternoon. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited...

I know it may not seem like a big deal for most people, but this is massive for me. I've not always had "nice" things and there have been times where I didn't even have a bed to sleep on. So, I'm really happy. It was an accomplishment for me to buy this set and I'm really grateful that I was able to do that for myself. So, yay! I just wanted to share this with you all!

Oh, and I almost forgot -- what kind of mattress sets (or other similar deal) do you all have? How old are they? Do you like them? I guess I'm just curious about it all since this is new to me. So, please, share away!

Congrats!!!!

I know how excited you are! I just got rid of my water bed in November and bought a queen size box spring and mattress. The mattress is a 3 inch pillow top and the box spring in 9".

Between the legs, the box spring, the mattress and pillow top, the bed is above my waist and I have to climb in. But it's like sleeping on a cloud!

Enjoy your new bed!

Oh Allison, that is SO exciting!!!

I know exactly what you mean! IMO there is nothing more important in your house, as far as a piece of furniture, than your bed.
Your bed you give you a good or bad rest, and that will be the foundation for good or bad days. IMO a good bad is essential for a good life - can you tell I am a sleeper?

When I got divorced, and wanted to start new, the FIRST thing I did, was get rid of the old bed, and get a new one.

I have a queen size Simmon Beautyrest, with a very dense 5" memory foam topper on it. I Love my bed.

Congratulations, and have a wonderful night tonight!

First of all congrats on getting the new mattress and everything else is falling into place.

I have always had a full mattress but when I lived in a small mobile home, I purchased a twin bed to make more room in the bedroom. Now that I've moved into a much larger mobile home, I could fit a full sized bed in there with no problem. What actually is stopping me is that I would have to buy all new sheet sets too and I don't want to have to do that. The bed is big enough for me and Autumn, I haven't fallen off it yet
I've had it about 4 years.

Congrats hun, I'd be excited too!

I can't remember the brand name of my set but I know my Mom bought it for me from Leon's about 6 years ago and I LOVE it. SO comfy.

Well, last night was my first night sleeping on my new mattress set. And, let me just tell you, it was like sleeping on a cloud! I loved it!

My old mattress and box spring were so uncomfortable. The middle portion of the bed was swayed, the mattress was thin, the box spring coils were exposed, and the whole thing was wobbly and unstable. It really was not the bed if you wanted a good night's sleep. But, this new mattress set...wow. It was the best night's sleep I've gotten in a long time. I guess I never realized just how uncomfortable I was before until last night when I slept on something comfortably and soundly. I definitely felt very refreshed this morning and, even though I'm not the least bit tired right now, I'm looking forward to going to bed tonight! In fact, I just may have to take a nap since I don't think I can wait
!

This mattress set was an investment well made. Oh, and since my dog and all the kitties slept on the new bed with me last night, they think it was a good investment too!

Glad you're enjoying your bed! I've had my new box spring an mattress coming up to 4 months, and the novelty still hasn't worn off.

I went out and bought a feather duvet and a duvet cover with matching pillow shams. All 1/2 price after Christmas. And once a month I've bought a new set of matching sheets to go with the duvet.

Now my bed looks like one of those in a magazine ad...minus the head board and foot board because I still don't have any other furniture in my bedroom!

But just looking at it I have a hard time resisting getting in. Actually, right now I'm dreaming about going home and laying down for awhile.

One thing I highly recommend is a heated blanket. I put mine on low setting and just snuggle right up under my duvet. If there is a cloud #11, then I'm on it!

I am so happy for you in the purchase of your new mattress set. I understand the feeling of accomplishment. Having to do without things sometimes makes us really appreciate them more when we can finally have them. We have a firm bed set and it is not as old as I am. It sleeps great. This thread makes me wonder how often people replace their mattresses.
