I am and it was an issue somewhere else a while back, I have the article at work and can't think where it was. It didnt pass though. I want to say it was in Wisconsin but I am not 100% sure - but then unless it is someone living off the land, killing for food, I do not agree with hunting any animal.

I read a little bit - Im very sensitive to this kind of stuff.

This is very sad/scary BUT its good to know there are people and organizations fighting this. They have their facts (about TNR) and hopefully can change this for the cat's best interest.

I just hope this doesnt put the thought into a moron's head that they can go out and shoot these cats on their own.

Eithne, it was Wisconsin. And work that we have up on the Stray Pet Advocacy site on Cat Predation helped shoot down the bill. We directly address the issue of the number of birds cats kill as one "research" paper in particular - authored by profs at Univ of Wisconsin - has been widely distributed and is just WRONG.

Got some e-mail addresses to go find.

MA - once again, thank you for the link.

Actually, someone from Alley Cat Allies contacted me at the time and I helped them source all of the original material.

They used to host both of our articles on their website - but since they redesigned it, those - along with a lot of other great information - are no long available through their website.
