Hi everyone, well I am a bit upset, I have 6 rabbits 5 females and one male, they are all fixed apart from the 3 young girls who are booked in next month as they are too young at the moment. Well I let them out in the garden (all the bunnies) almost 3 weeks ago, they are big bunnies so need plenty of exercise and when I came to get them in I was very suprised to find that they were all there but one, as far as I thought my garden is secure, seems not
Anyway I got all the others in and started looking for Petal (the escapee) after about an hour my neighbour at the end came round to ask me if I ahd lost a rabbit, I said yes and she said well there's two under my car
Ok then I thought 2?? I definetely have only lost one. Anyway I went with her and she managed to catch one of them that was under her car and when she gave it to me...erm that's not my rabbit,it was next doors rabbit Sid, then she got my rabbit. I thanked her and put Petal back and took sid round to next door, she said he must have escaped from his run, he is the smallest thing ever (fully grown-he is a netherland dwarf-very cute) I told her that he had been with my girl and its extremely likely they have been upto something and she may be pregnant. Oh my gosh she laughed !!! and just called Sid a randy so and so and said the babies will be cute. No way, ok its my fault too for my girl escaping but she thinks its funny that my girl may be pregnant, she is 5 months old. I told her that when the babies are born she can find new and good homes for them as I cannot possibly keep any more.
Well since then I have kept my rabbits just in the run to prevent any further escapages until the youngest ones are fixed and hubby has re rabbit-proofed the garden but Sid has escaped a further 2 times, I had to look after him for 3 hours the other morning while she was at work. I told her h needs neutering and thats why he keeps escaping, it shopuldn't be as bad when my girls are done because I think he can smell them at the moment but she doesn't believe in it. I have rung the vets to see if there is anything i can do but Petal is too young and they won't do anything.
I have been to clean them out a while back and Petal has been making a nest pulling her fur out so its obvious. I just hope things go well-she is already a cross and the babies will be cross again-Rex cross Lion head cross Netherland dwarf, I am not to sure on cross breeding rabbits, the vet said they should be ok. Alo she is only 5 months but luckily quite big so she should be ok, I will just have to keep a big eye on her. The babies should be due a week on monday, I have made her a box up and hopefully she will have them in there.xx

that's frustrating about your neighbour being so irresponsible. Some people just don't get it. Course it's not her with the pregnant female...Anyway, I hope Petals does OK. Can't blame them both for doing what bunnies are famous for.

Poor thing, I hope Petal doesn't have a hard time of it. Too bad your neighbor is so irresponsible.

Let us know how Petal does.

I shall keep everyone updated and take piccies, I have also got a good vet and he's only 10 minutes up the road so any problems atleast he is close by.Touch wood sid hasn't been in our garden for a while, if he keeps doing it, I will tell her that she must have him nuetured for his own health aswell x
