Top entry litter box not working

Ok, so I have a female older cat who is a very messy when she urinates. She doesn't crouch and aims high. Regular covered boxes weren't working because her urine would seep out where the top detaches. Now I have the top entry. I love it, but she seems to not be as every other day or so I am finding a spraying of urine by my front door. I will give it a few days, but I cannot let this continue on my hardwood floors or I will have a very stinky, small apartment. Any other boxes that anyone can recommend? Maybe a front entry but one that has some kind of shielding built over the seam so the urine just goes down into the litter? Please help!!!!!

There are litter boxes made with side shields, a friend of mine just bought one, I'll see if I can find the link.

I use rubbermaid tubs for my girlie who stands up to pee. They aren't covered, just tall sided. You could cut a door in one side, I did that for my senior girl who couldn't jump in any more.

however, first, your kitty needs to be brought to the vet for a urinalysis, as the number one reasons cats pee outside the box is from urinary tract problems, and the areas where she has peed need to be cleaned with an enzymatic cleaner.

By the way, be sure to keep the box clean, many cats will not use a dirty box. In addition, many cats prefer to poop in one and pee in another, so two boxes are best.

She's had all kinds of work ups in the past few months due to a medical condition that is being controlled with meds now. She does this to me whenever she doesn't like a change I have implemented. That would be fantastic if you found the link, thanks!!!!!!

Another storage container user here. Cheap and they come in multiple sizes and colors/clear.

I use the tall ones that have lids but take the lids off.

Another user here!!! That was just about the best litterbox tip I got!!! I can not believe litterboxes cost SO much and offer so little, are tiny, flimsy, and poor in quality!
I go to Big lots instead of paying $18-20 for a traditional box, and pay $6 for a much better, bigger one!
LOVE storage containers!

That one would be no good for my 3 because they could get gold medals for the distance they can flick the litter across the other side of the room!!

Yes I prefer the totes too. But my friend insisted her cat wouldn't use one(she did try), even though I suggested she cut out the front if he didn't like jumping in.

She's happy with that one in the link. Her cat also uses the toilet, interchanging on his own agenda (he trained himself, she had nothing to do with it! )
