It was pretty incredible. The doctor said my uterus was large for 13 weeks. I was so elated hearing the heartbeat, I didn't think to ask what that meant! Now I'm kind of worried! She didn't seem concerned though. I also found out I lost 5 pounds in one month. Oops. I guess I've been a little afraid to eat lately. Lunch and breakfast usually stay down, but not dinner. I'm trying to eat now though.

Oh hun, I'm sure if she was concerned about something she would discuss it with you. I'm sure you must have been thrilled!

How exciting for you! I'm sure your doctor would have said something if she were concerned about your uterus. And yes, you must eat something!

I wish you joy and good health!

Over the river and through the woods...
I'm SO excited for you!!!
You're 13 weeks? Is that the earliest they can hear the heart beat? I can't wait! For me, it's more like a concept than a reality. I don't think it will really sink in until I actually have some proof!
Of course, I had my first real bout of morning sickness today...not fun.

I'm sure you're ecstatic! (Just one heartbeat..not two, right? lol).

Yes, I'm 13 weeks. The hear beat definitely made it more real. I was like "Oh my god, there IS a baby in there!" The earliest you can hear it is six to seven weeks.

Sorry about the morning sickness, hope it doesn't get too bad.

How sweet. Why do OB's make the strangest comments without further explanation. LoL

Mine kept telling me what Tressa's heart rate was and finally at one appointment I was like "so what's normal?" I also never got an explanation on what position she was in till I asked! I think I was always just mesmeried with her heartbeat and what not so I'd never think to ask those things until later! I loved my OB though. Except he called me "young lady" the entire time....I'm 27 and he looked to be in his 40s at the most.

I haven't actually got to meet my OB yet! The first visit, I just had a physical, so a nurse practioner did it. This second time, my OB is in some sort of trial thing, so she was busy. But I meet her next time. So far everyone I've met have been really really cool. Except the lady that took my blood.

Wow, that is just the most amazing thing ever, I ahve 3 children and I can stll remember the first time that I heard all their heartbeats. Having a larg uterus is nothing to worry about, could just mean your baby is a good size, I always measured more than I should have but my babies were all average size, please don't worry, like everyone has said if there was any concern she would have discussed it with you. I am so excited for you, have a great preganancy and keep us all updated-trust me you will be eating for 2 in no time. xx

That's amazing you got to hear the heartbeat!!
Congratualtions!!

(As far as your uterus goes, do you know the exact date of conception? It could be larger if you're further along in your pregnancy than you calculated. I wouldn't be worried- if she saw something important, she would have talked to you about it.)

I wish you the best of luck for you and baby. Sometimes the most surprising things turn out to be the best.

We were trying, so I know my exact ovulation date. And my due date by ovulation is actually five days behind if you figure it by LMP. So I always figured I was a little behind.

How exciting!! OB has changed so much since my kids were born! That was way before ultrasound, and I don't think my OB ever even suggested I listen to the baby's heartbeat. I think it is wonderful that with all the newer technology, it's bound to make you feel closer to the baby growing inside you. Congratulations, both of you!

My DIL is abt. 8 wks pregnant with triplets. Last week at their ultrasound they saw the heartbeats on the screen - too early to hear them.

ALL 4 of my pgs were measuring bigger than normal.
It could mean baby is going to be a bigger baby--my smallest was 8lbs
it could mean baby is peeing more--NOT bad.
it could mean you are further along
or it could just be the way your body wants to carry the pregnancy.
I would NOT worry about it at all.

Thanks everyone. DH was at the appointment too, and I figure if he's not worrying then I'm ok. He's the biggest worrier ever. He's a little nervous about twins though.
