Just a little, k? 7 weeks not smoking for me and I'm feeling darn good about that. Not to say that it's easy. I sure don't plan on smoking ever again because I don't ever want to quit again. Still using the patch but I think I will step down to step one next week and phase out over that a two week period. I'm confident that will be it for me.
I went to the Dr this week, for a bronchial infection. My official weight loss is at 25 lbs, by the Dr's scale since Sept. While I may have slipped a bit here and there, I was so glad to see that I had not replaced smoking with eating.

It has wonders for my self-esteem. I know that i really can do what I need to do to take care of myself, health-wise. On to 25 more lbs being gone!

That's great! My DH quit smoking in August and his asthma is all but gone. He hardly ever has to use his inhaler

What awesome news! You must be so proud of yourself!
Dana and I quit cold turkey last August and although it wasn't so hard for me because I was a fairly light smoker, Dana had one HELL of a time and we were at each other's throats for a few weeks.

Keep up the good work!

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Good job on quitting. Thats something BF and I would like to get around to doing but we arent pushing it now because we have quit so much stuff and have so much stress going on right now it could be a bad thing for us to quit. Like potentially killing someone going thru nicotine withdrawal. But good job on quitting thats awesome!

Good for you! This is a terrible addiction to break, and it is the best single thing you can do to increase your life span.

CONGRATS!!!

I don't remember if I quit last April or May, but something like that... I have smoked since though... A few times, but thank God never went back
Anyways, I hear you when you say I never want to quit again... Definitely the hardest habit to break. I WISH I had lost weight though
EXTRA Points on that one!!! BIG TIME!

I have lost a lot of weight in my life and also quit smoking but you are to be wildly congratulated for being able to do both at the same time!

Congratulations!
It will be 4 years for me in July, and I remember exactly how hard it was! Now I'm working on losing the weight I gained.

Good for you, quitting smoking is never easy. I tried twice before I finally kicked the habit back in 1990 and went cold turkey. It doesn't matter how you quit or what kind of help you need, the main thing to to just DO IT.

My DH was diagnosed Type 2 diabetes and we needed to radically change our eating habits. Not go on a diet....but really change the way we ate. That has been pretty difficult on it's own. OK really difficult. Dh would not make these changes by himself and can easily fall off track. To keep him on a healthy path I have to follow it also, and I needed to for myself. We rarely eat red meat anymore and when we do it's very lean game. No refined flour, no sugar, no or very low fats. Low carbs...no white rice, limited pasta. More fiber...veggie and fruit based.
Absolutely NO TAKE-OUT. That was a big one for us, there is only the two of us living here and we both work a lot. It's easy to get fast-food when you're too tired to cook, but it's oh so bad for you.
I also don't keep 'bad' foods in the house so there is no temptation to eat out of boredom or in place of a smoke.
The eating changes took place before we quit smoking, so we were pretty well established with that. If I tried to start both at once it would have been an epic failure. I get a bit of good feeling that I am stronger than short-lived temptation.
