cats smell like pee?

Hello

I got my boys neutered monday, and since then they "smell like pee".

I know that they peed in their Carriers, then laid in it. I don't personally smell it, but other people do.

As I don't smell it, what should I do?

Are the other people around you? If they are not, who cares? Do Nothing??
If they are around you... Then buy cat bath wipes on Petco, Petsmart, or other pet stores; you can then just wipe them clean with it...

They don't smell though, I am sure of it, I have a cat laying next to me in bed, and no pee smell.

You could go ahead and wipe the cats down anyways, as that won't harm them. It's probably just that you don't notice because you're used to the smell. Or maybe the other people are smelling something else?

There are certain smells I won't notice and other overwhelming ones that make me completely sick to be around.

They are probably smelling the male cat smell, it lasts for a while after neutering and sometimes seems worse just after neutering, but you could wipe them down and clean out the carrier in case.

Could they have sprayed and thats what people are smelling?

Nope, to be honest, our dog pees every so often. I think they are smelling that.

Inside? That's possible then. If you're trying to clean up urine inside there are special enzyme cleaners to help get all of the urine - and plenty of threads on here discussing cleaning.

No, he pees outside, but then walks in it.

I've noticed that post-op cats usually smell like Betadine, which kinda smells like cat pee. So it could be that, too. The odor should fade after a while, or you can wipe them down to make it go away faster.

I am told the smell has gone.
