I have heard of it but never tried it.

I use it. I just use it for Twitter (I used to have Twitter and FB linked together but stopped doing that a few weeks ago). It allows me to see new messages without constantly checking back through the Twitter website and it will actually flash the new message on my screen while I'm on other website. It's pretty neat!!

I actually stopped using my Facebook because of too much drama going on. It got to be a waste. The only thing I wish I still had it for was to promote my Etsy page. Other than that it was just a headache because of family and if I would have deleted them it would have caused a bigger headache so I just deleted myself LOL

OT, but did you guys hear that home insurance will start going up to people who are Facebook, Twitter and myspace user? Specially for Twitter users... The reason: People give way too much information out, making themselves a very easy target for robbers - i.e., when they are out of town and nobody is home. Pretty much an invitation for robbery.
I saw this on the news last week...

If that isn't ridiculous....well, what about people who actually have their information blocked to most people, even those that they are friends with? A blanket "if you use these social networking sites"-fine is ridiculous.

Let them try it. *puts on boxing gloves*

Interesting- how will they know who has Facebook, twitter or myspace? I recently put my mom's maiden name as my last name on these sites so that I don't have my real name for privacy reasons I guess that must have been a good move!!

There are plenty of naive people out there though...

These are examples of why the insurance agencies are looking into it...

Thanks for those links, Carolina. Just now I emailed them to family members. Although I think possibly only 2 out of several might use Twitter, I doubt it. But just in case.

Ok, I just want to point out that you have to use FOURSQUARE and post that information to a PUBLIC Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. account. For example, just posting to Twitter (for me), that I'll be gone for the weekend won't accomplish anything. It will inform people who I allow to follow me to know that, but if they don't know where I live, it's a non-issue. Those who do NOT follow me, cannot see that information.

However, if I posted a Foursquare link (literally, a Google map pin-pointed current location), and said I was leaving on a PUBLIC social networking feed, then there's the danger.

I don't use the Foursquare service, and my social networking sites are locked down. It's all about being wise.

Great opinions and of course I never put something private on that places... would be dangerous....
