Hi everyone,

I've had my cats for 6 1/2 years, the tom is fixed, his sister who has never been away from him isn't.

The tomcat is the sick one. He started throwing up his food yesterday and has had diarrhea about 6 or more times. Tonight his vomit has changed to just liquid. Whitish foamy like bile (he does still have his appetite it just doesn't stay down long). At first his ears and nose were very warm and his nose was very dry. That went away this afternoon so i thought it might be a one day thing, but he has never had diarrhea or been been sick in the 6 1/2 years I've had him so I worry it may be something more serious as its heading into about 24 hours now. I have monitored his poo and throw up and see nothing in it, if that matters.

Nothing in his daily rountine has been changed, i've used the same food for the last 5 1/2 years, same litter, etc....

His sister is very playful today, more then usual as the weather is warming up so i don't think its something they both have.

He has a very pleasant personality and hasn't been himself most of the day but he has had spurts where he was acting like himself (being cuddly and super friendly and talkative), so I don't think he in any major pain or anything. As I'm typing this he's sitting on his fav chair right next to me staring at me with his lubby dubby eyes, which i think is a good sign cause its his happy look.

I am currently unemployed and lack any funds so i am searching for someone like the Farley Foundation to help me get him to a vet if this doesn't subside today sometime.(they cant help me as they only help abused women and people on disablity benefits even though they get more then twice what i do in a month right now.), so if anyone knows of a similar foundation which may be able to help me or give me advice or something please feel free to send me the info.

Any other advice is welcome too.

Thanks in advance for everyones help.

Good Morning Bill and welcome to TCS.

Your kitty sounds like he really needs to be seen by a vet. There are quite a few members from Canada so they may have other options for financial assistance.

You might want to try www.carecredit.com. Many of us have this plan. You can apply on line, by phone or through your vet, if they participate. If you are approved, it is instant and can be used the same day as your appointment. Some of their introductory rates charge no interest as long as it's paid within a certain amount of time. It has enabled me to treat my cats when finances have been tight. Hopefully it is available in Canada.

If you wait until your cat gets worse, it will only be more money. So the sooner you go in, the better.

You are looking at the weekend and finding a vet can be tricky then. ER vets are terribly expensive. I'd try to have the cat looked at before the weekend. You don't want to end up with a very ill cat and no vet. Cats can go downhill quickly and hide symptoms very well.

Please keep us updated. You have found a site of good, caring cat lovers.
PS Please take note of his urine out put. That is something very important.

Thanks, I will check out these options. I'm hoping to find a way to get him to vet before the weekend but it may not be possible, I will call everyone i know today and try to borrow some money. I wasn't his broke when i got them and have been terrified fo this day coming

His seems to be peeing like normal and isn't crying or appear to be having any form of troubles while peeing and i haven't been able to see any blood or discoloration in it, but its very hard to tell as hes so quick to try to cover it up, lol (hes a clean freak about his box).

Thanks again for you input

It could be a foreign body, viral, liver, a whole number of things... I would definitely recommend a vet visit as soon as possible. With the vomiting and diarrhea, she can easily get dehydrated very quickly.

I hope everything works out! Good luck!

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this but i been very busy with the sick boy and some other things. He finally got better early sunday morning, he hasn't been sick since and is up playing and being cheerful and talkative.

The problem was figured out to be a ingredient change in his food and no long term problems are expected.

Thanks to everyone who helped me here and elsewhere, i recieved alot of help and appreciate every little bit of it.
