I have been thinking of moving to another area. It is expensive in the NorthEast of the USA. But I would have no clue where to even begin to look!

Do you like where you live? What are the pros of where you live and the cons??

I was looking at Florida. Ft. Meyers area. So anyone living down there please let me know how it is. I was also thinking of other countries so people from other countries feel free to chime in also.

I think it will be cool to hear what people like and dislike about where they live.

All in all I love where I live and couldn't live anywhere else. There is so much nature here, not to mention the Bay of Fundy which is stunning, the wildlife, the PEOPLE are so friendly. I do wish there were more career oppertunities but that seems to be a problem everywhere now.

I don't particularly like where I live but its more to do with being away from family than the actual area - I would still live in a more urban/city area rather than the suburbs given the choice though

I like the area I live in, but the building needs alot of work. The interior is 20 years old and is never cleaned. I did see the super last night washing the hallway window, the only time he is seen is the night before board meetings (tonight) to show that he does something around the building. When I get back on my feet and can sell this place I am going to look for a nicer building in the same area but with a working staff.

I hate where I live. When looking for a new place, I would avoid Eastern NC like the plague. It smells bad, it is expensive, most all the business are geared toward ripping off Marines, and it is difficult for non military to find any kind of reasonable housing. I cannot believe people come here to retire. My DH took a job here years ago, left and came back, now we are stuck. Jacksonville, NC is the armpit of America.

I have lived in MA my whole life. I still like it around here but it's just getting to expensive! I love just going to Boston to walk around I also like the changes in seasons. I always thought about moving to FL but I will never see snow again
.
I actually want to move to PA. My moms side of the family lives there and every time I go to visit them I never want to leave. It's so quiet, people are friendly, the landscape is beautiful and the air is so clean. Plus it is much less expensive to live there. As people in MA know the price to rent here is ridiculous! I can get a 1 bedroom here in MA for no less then 800-900 dollars where as in PA I can get a nice 1 bedroom for 500-600 dollars.

I love my town in Kansas! Close to Wichita, not too small of a town. Nice people (for the most part). It's a really cute town, I love the houses and I can't wait to buy one.

The people here in Massachusetts are not very nice. Everyone is just on edge and out for themselves. Its crazy. It seems to be getting worse...At least in the Northeastern part of the state just outside of the city. Everyones in a rush..get outta my way!...and no time for common courtesy. It is dirty and crowded and expensive. You think NC is the armpit of america!
If thats the armpit I hate to say what my area must be....

I've lived here all my life and its never been this bad. New Brunswick sounds nice...and they have universal healthcare! Woo-Hoo!!
I have distant relatives that live up there that I just discovered while doing ancestry work. I would still like to be by a coastline also. I can't imagine living inland!

Ditto!!! Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m in Moncton (close to Kailie) and I can honestly say itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s the best. Cost of living is quite low, I am from Toronto and I would have to be making 100K+ to be living the way I am here if I was in Toronto.

The people here are insanely nice. Everyone loves everyone, everyone is relaxed, the news is incredibly boring because there is no crime, and you get 100 smiles a day.

Itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s beautiful here, where I live is in the middle of everything, we have such beauty here you could never get bored with it.

Working environments are great (probably because everyone is so nice). Toronto was always so stressful and mean office wise, I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have that here.

Itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s safe, I am never fearful.

Honestly I can go on and on on why my town is so awesome. The only negatives are since Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m used to Toronto I miss the mass amounts of food and shopping LOL thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s about it. Oh and while i have not experienced the employment thing it does exsist, but that is probably everywhere like Kailie said.

So that two for NB!
Looks like I should start to do some investigating of that area. I think it is similiar to New England in its coastline and nature but sounds like the way of life is alot better. Thanks!

Anyone from down south that likes where they live??

Yay for another New Brunswicker!
I love Moncton!

There is nothing better than going for a walk along one of the many nature trails around here and having everyone you meet say hello.
That's just the way people are around here.

You and I spoke by PM before so I know the area you live in now very well. I moved from there to central NC in Sept '08, and it costs me a good 50% less to live here than it did up there. But there are just no jobs anywhere. That's the only drawback I have experienced. Otherwise, I love it here and will never ever move back to New England.

My dad used to live in the Ft Myers area and the costs are not that low and the traffic is ridiculous - way too many people already moved there. I personally would never move to that area of FL because of the traffic. Rte 128 was bad enough!

I've been there, and I hated it. That's why when I moved to NC, I chose the Winston-Salem area. Much nicer.

I live in the town where I grew up. I frequently go by the two houses we used to live in. Maybe one day there'll be an open house and I can go inside and take a trip back on memory lane.

back home in VA!
I love love love where I live!!! I live in Plano IL about an hour and a half outside of Chicago IL(just moved about a month ago from chicago to here) Its a quiet little town everything I need or want is within driving distance, want a night out on the town, take the metra into chicago and back home, quiet night stay at home go to a quiet dinner somewhere maybe catch a movie. There is so much diversity here that its amazing, for the most part everyone gets along with everyone else well at least here. Its a lot more quiet here than in the city, no more being woken up in the middle of the nigh by police sirens or crazy neighbors complaining that your dog barks, just a quiet town in a quiet neighborhood its great!!!

I am the opposite, I whine on a weekly basis about moving closer to Toronto

I like where I live in Pa. Its a nice area..Well outside of town. Id never live actually in Sunbury but the surrounding areas are really nice. Winfield, Selinsgrove, Lewisburg, Danville, Bloomsburg. They are all pretty nice. I just drove up to Wilkes-Barre today and you couldnt pay me a billion dollars to move there. I was scared to stop and ask where Johnson St was so I went to the bank and even then I was scared!!! Ill stick with my surrounding area though its nice and cheap. If I did HAVE to move out of state Id go back to Kansas I LOVED it there it was so pretty.

I like the area I live in. This isn't my favorite town in the area, but that's the sort of thing you only learn by living here. If I knew 25 years ago what I know now, I would have bought a house or some land down nearer to Austin.

If you're from New England, however, you might really like east Texas. Lots of nice little towns, hilly, pine trees, etc. In fact, some have described east Texas as New England without the deep snow. Yes, it does snow there, usually a couple of times per winter. Just stay home!

There are several towns out there that are very nice. Tyler is one of them.

If you have to have a larger city to find work, check out the Houston area, especially northeast of town. The Piney Woods comes down that far, and it's a rare recession that hits Houston very hard.
