Yesterday the Salvation Army picked up my couch. I still have my loveseat. My living room looks so much more roomy!

However, they wouldn't take the dresser. The bottoms of one or 2 of the drawers tends to fall out sometimes. A little wood glue is all that's needed. And one of the side rails that the drawer slides on is missing, so the top drawer sits on the one below it. It needs a bit of minor work, but I figured that someone looking for furniture may see it and take it home and refinish it. However, the drivers refused to take it.

I really don't want to throw it in the dumpster, because it's solid wood, not cheap particle board. So I advertised on My Used Winnipeg. Here is my ad:

1960's style bedroom dresser. 3 deep drawers. Solid wood, not particle board.

The drawers need a bit of work to keep the bottoms intact, and one or 2 bars that drawers slide on need to be replaced.

Finish is in so-so condition. No deep scratches.

Ideal for those who like to restore furniture.

I lack the knowledge and space to refinish it myself so I'm giving it away to someone who may be able to bring some renewed life to this gem.
Here is an email response I got today

Hello , where is this gem in diguise ?? I'll give it a face-lift and a lil belly work n she'll be in as new shape almost , just need to refinish her then watch everyone eye-ball her ..
Where may i pick-er-up ?? Tell me where she is hiding n concider her gone !!

Please let me know early so i can come n recue this gem from the yowls of heck.

Thank you
Ray

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Linda be careful who your letting in the house. Make sure someone is there with you when he comes?.

He could be genuine, but with the way the world is now you can't be too careful. Remember Kellye's friend when she was selling her car?!

I just hope that he comes sooner than later to pick it up! I've got my mind set on getting rid of it, and thought I was going to be stuck with it because I just can't throw out real wood furniture. Especially one in this condition. There isn't a great deal wrong with it, and if I had the knowlelge and the space, I would have been working on refinishing it myself. I'd rather have a real wood dresser than what I'm going to end up buying when I get my bedroom set. Even high end expensive stuff looks like it is made of particle board these days.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
If you can get a friend or neighbor to help you get it outside your actual apartment, that would help. Or have a friend with you when the guy come around to get it. Just to be safe. Male preferably. Maybe, if you know the maintenance crew in your building, have one of them help or be there.

It's gone! He called around noon or so and came by before 1 pm. I told him that I wouldn't be able to help him carry it out, so he brought one of those 4 wheel dollies. The dresser itself isn't that heavy.

He's an older guy, maybe in his 60's. During the summer he does furniture refinishing as a hobby. So he's been picking up good used items.

I asked if he would mind dropping me an email with a photo of it once he's finished. He said he would, but it probably won't be until mid summer.
