I filled out my tax return about a month ago but never submitted it because I was waiting for my bank to send me my investment receipts.
I finally called today and they told me that I don't have any coming to me! When I went back to work last year I started to put money into investments, but after a few months I realized I had gone too gung-ho and decided it was best to wait a year, so put a hold on them. When I changed jobs I had to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe of business style clothing because I didn't have anything but jeans and t-shirts, so I cashed in what I had invested.
They sent me the cash-out tax receipt, but nothing to show the investment was made, so without that it looked like I had an additional sum of money as income, when in fact it should have balanced out with an investment amount.
I couldn't believe the girl on the phone was telling me that I wouldn't be getting an investment tax receipt because I cashed out.
I told her that in order for me to cash out an investment, there had to be deposits made into that investment for me to cash out. I finally had to talk to the manager.
They're handwriting my investment receipts and mailing them to me. I don't have to send my tax return hard copy because I did net file, but I do need the receipts in case Revenue Canada ever asks to see them.
So I should look forward to a refund in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited! This is my first refund in about 14 years!!!
