... and amazingly, it has nothing to do with cats. But I wanted to share!

I'm just finishing up a screenwriting class at Portland State University and I opted to do the video project. Everyone else chickened out. Since i write sci-fi and fantasy to begin with, I went with making a video of one. I wrote the script, cast it, shot it, directed, produced, etc, etc... I even show up on screen (which I am NOT doing again).

There is a tiny bit of language. The main character says the 'S' word once... and maybe the 'D' word is said a time or two, but I don't think so. I also made the music out of loops in my Mac's Garage Band program.

The video and sound quality are not the best... I shot it with the video option on my little point and shoot digital camera. I WANT a better video camera. a real video camera. This process has me hooked. I love it. I can now bring together so many of the creative endeavors I love and have loved my whole life into one thing: film making.

It's been a blast. I'm retaking the class next term as well, and will do another video.

So, without further ado: Georgina and the Dragon

Here... or There... Hmmm
I love the part when she was "waving her hand!" That was cute! It was a little hard to hear in spots but I liked it overall! Good job on your first time. Maybe try seeing if you can get some sort of microphone that you can pump into a speaker and record that and lay it back on top of the video, or just pump it right to the camera with a wireless speaker.

None of us are professional actors at all, although Stan has done bit parts in other local amateur films... we had casting issues.. originally Zorina was going to be Zoren, an old sorcerer, but the idiot who agreed to do it flaked and I only found out the night before. I got his number and called. He said he was ignoring the emails because he didn't think he was involved.... I wanted to smack him through the phone. So, Elaine did wonderfully as back up at the last minute... I edited out a LOT of flubs, but thought that one was more funny than awkward, so I kept it in...

As for sound..... I wish I could have had a mic there.... but the camera I had was just a digital camera with the video option... no inputs or anything.... If my health had been better, I would have had more time to go back and do some reshooting. I also should have gone with my 'gut' and not been in the room behind the dragon while doing her voice.... Yes, that's me with the pink hair at the end.... one of the other reasons for me to not set foot in front of the camera again is because I told Elaine to zoom in (which you can only do when not recording on that thing) so you could see my 'dress' so the bottom of the frame was about my hip level... well, she's 6 foot, and I'm only 5'2" and she zoomed in a little TOO much.... I intend on making that fabric into a real dress eventually... it's silver taffeta with beading and sequins.... it's GORGEOUS... and we basically pinned me into it... for nothing. I will use it eventually...

I want a better camera, but I can't afford one right now. Next one will be either all hand puppets or small 'puppets' with a few humans... but all indoors....

Thank you for the feedback... I knew there were issues with sound... but didn't know until I got a set of nice headphones and really listened to the tracks...

What did you think of the music?

What did you think of the music?
Yeah it was still very nice for a first try! Good job overall! I really did smile at that part it made it very down to earth and fun! I think that will be really cool as a real dress. I liked the music a lot, it seemed to fit very well with it. Yeah, there is always room to grow with anything and you never know what you will need or what a camera or anything will or will not do until you try with it. That's how you learn what you need to go up to! I learned the same way with my camera and what I wanted to take pictures of and what I wanted it to do. You learn tricks with them and work it out or get something that will do it for you! But again, I think you did a great job!
