Am I crazy to be considering ordering cat food online?

Sure the convenience of it coming to my doorstep is wonderful, but wow - what times we live in here that we can have things like this come to us.

I've decided I want to try my girls on the Wellness cans, but I can't buy them in town. *sigh*

Does anyone order online, and do you have a favorite shop?

I've bought dry food online, but not the canned because it's so heavy and the shipping just about doubles the price.

I like westcoastpetsupply.com, partly because their prices are good. Their shipping to me is less than most of the others because I'm closer to the west coast than the east. You'd have to check out shipping to your location.

Have you actually tried the Wellness wet food for your cats? After a couple of expensive mistakes I figured out that I should buy only one or two cans of any new food to try it out before buying an entire case. Most of my cats are very picky and so far I've come up with only one flavor and one type of food that everybody will eat.

I was gonna start with a half dozen single cans, that way its not a case or two mistake in case they turn up their noses.. hehe

I buy from petfooddirect fairly often. Mostly for ferret food, but if I have a good coupon (Google it; you can usually find at least a 20% off coupon if you look) or if something is on sale I'll buy cat or dog food too. It's very convenient, though the shipping charges can really jack up the price.

My local pet store will usually order in something as long as I buy enough of it too, so you could always ask them.

When I first became interested in EVO no one here stocked it but my local pet store ordered it in without any problems and often when they contact the company to say they are interested in stocking a product, they send samples too!

I had my cats on Wellness for a while. They ate it but weren't crazy about it. That stuff is expensive. I suggest just getting one can to try on them and see if they like it first.

I've ordered a couple cans of a few different flavors to see if they'll eat any of them and we'll go from there. Managed to score the 20% off at Pet Food Direct. If they love it, there's a shop 2 hours from here, we could make a day of shopping and go to the museum or something too, spend the shipping $ on entertainment for a day .. hehe

I've ordered canned food from various stores on line, with mixed results. Most places will not deliver cat food to my post office box without charging outrageous shipping charges, they want to send UPS.

I use a post office box for a reason. I don't want food or medicine sitting in the sun or the sub zero temps all day until I get home to bring it inside.

So I gave up online food ordering.

I have one cat on Wellness canned, the 3 oz grain free ones, and one cat on the Innova, two of the "stew" flavors, also in 3 oz cans and the local feed store carries both. A 3 oz can of either brand is $1.15 which is no more expensive than the online stores.

Sometimes supply at my local feed and seed is a problem, so I keep stocked up with at least full case of each brand and flavor on hand at all times.

I hope you like Pet food direct. With their lower prices and the various coupons it comes out to just about the same as going to the store, even after shipping.

Like you, I have no where close to shop from (Kmart, grocery stores, and a farm supply that doesn't carry high end brands). With what we spend on gas for a trip to OKC ~$35 and just not having the time to go, this is cheaper and easier.

Have been very happy with petfooddirect.com. They have coupons on their e-mail lists that pretty much cover the shipping. I buy in bulk when those come out.
