Another expected delivery Friday

Well, I hadn't wanted to share this event with TCS only because I fear being flamed for my decision. My Oreo, Devon Rex, was bred by my Sphynx and is due Friday. I know in the past I've had comments made to me about crossing the two breeds, but this practice is still allowed in TICA. Oreo has Sphynx in her from her mother who is a Devon Sphynx cross.

If you feel the need to bash me, please don't. I have had one of the worst days in a long while losing Zippy yesterday. I cried myself to sleep last night.

I just couldn't bear not speaking about the pregnancy any longer. I am excited about it, Oreo is healthy and has been blood-typed. She and Monty are both A. The vet said she is going to "have a few" and is doing really well through her pregnancy. I have three kittens already on hold for persons wanting one of her kittens from me.

I have some very good friends here and that's why I wanted to share. I love my cats to death, and if someone wants to purposely hurt me by telling me this is a wrong decision, please don't waste your time on me.

This birth is the only thing keeping me from sinking into a hole and never coming out. If I thought this was wrong to do, I wouldn't have allowed it.

Oreo is a sweet cat, one whom I delivered and raised from the very second she came out. Her siblings are all doing well and are in very loving homes. I keep contact with the new owners, as they're friends of ours.

Thanks for listening. Let's hope for a great delivery with no problems.

I hope Oreo does well and you have some wonderfully cute kitties when she's done. Do Devon/Sphynx mixes come with hair? What colors are you expecting, and any idea how many kittens she's going to have?
Sorry about the kitten.
He died on the Aniv of my Patches dying.
tamarae,
Sphynx can be outcrossed with Devon Rex,ASH and DSH in TICA.
In CFA Devon Rex is not allowed.
Kittens can be fully furred.
Some are as bare as my Cleo who is a outcross.
She has ASH in her.
I knew about Oreo being preg and why Susan did not post here about it.

tamarae, the kind of kittens will depend on what genes are expressed. Since both Devon Rex and Sphynx genes are both recessive, I really don't know what to expect. This will be my first time delving into the outcrossing of the two, and it will be interesting to see what happens. Oreo's mother is half n half so Oreo's genes were diluted even more when my Devon male bred Oreo's mom.

I don't know how many she will have, but Devons usually have 4 at the most in a litter. I have seen 5 on the net, but not personally. Bonnie just had the 4 born.

It is exciting just to know that there are babies coming without blood incompatibility issues. I am getting my other Sphynx female blood typed tomorrow as she is 3 weeks pregnant and I will need to definitely know.

Jacky, thank you for your condolences. I saw that about your Patches on facebook but I was so upset I didn't post to you. For that, I am sorry. I do know the pain, yes it was a long time ago, but you never forget those you have lost.

Ruthy, don't worry, I will be definitely posting pictures of the babies. Thanks to all who have posted thus far for not bashing me. It is appreciated.

Oh I suppose you may not have seen them.

Here are some pics, albeit they're a bit older.

Here is Monty. I love this pose, it captures his personality perfectly.

Here is Oreo. She is only 6 months here but she still looks exactly the same but bigger.

Thanks Sam! I have 8 cats and I love each one so much, sometimes TOO much. I don't think though that you can ever love anyone too much.

I am expecting for colors out of this litter to be black, black/white, grey, grey/white, brown mackeral tabby and possibly all white. Monty is brown mackeral tabby and white Van and oreo obviously black and white and a tuxedo. I was correct when I had predicted my Bonnie's litter of kittens and she had not one the same

Awww, thanks Kaille, it will be interesting to see what she does have. Only a couple days now!!! I am going to check later this morning if her milk is in yet. First, I must go back to bed. This MS fatigue is bad.

I don't know anything about breeding, but I do know you love your cats and would not do anything harmful or wrong to them.
I am wishing you all the best with the delivery and healthy kittens.

I'm pretty confident that this birth and the litter will be just fine.

I just got my other Sphynx girl blood typed today and she is also incompatible with my stud. Aaaaarrrrrgh!!!

Now I'm on the hunt for a B blood type boy, not easy.

Any babies yet?

No, no babies yet but her milk is in so it should be soon. She is due tomorrow and her mom was right on time when she delivered her last year in December (08). She's gotten quite big, so it IS getting more exciting. I need babies to come soon, as I'm still in a funk from losing my Zippy.
I can not wait to see pics of the kittens and hope the inf I gave you helps.

Just got off the phone with Janice. She is a really great lady, very nice. I will be contacting her via email, as she emailed me after I gave her my email just now.

Don't worry guys, pics will be plentiful!! Just need a birth now, and i'll be all set!!
I am going to meet her at a show one day when I show in So Cal.
Did she send you any kitten pics?
She has some on her site.
In fact a lady that saw Wrinkles at the last show is buying one of her kittens.
She watched Wrinkles being judged also.
She was so happy I got her a sale.

I did go to her site and absolutely love the kittens with black in them. I love the all black male too. Decisions, decisions. I am so confused as what the future holds. I need some time to do some serious thinking and brainstorming with hubby.
I love those kittens also.
Good Luck on whatever you do.

Thanks Ruthy, I am expecting all things to be perfectly normal.

I just can't wait for them. I just went into the cat room for the first time since baby passed, it was hard for me, but I knew it needed to be rearranged for Oreo and her newborns. Needed to make my bed in there etc. All is ready to go, whenever Oreo is

Tamrarae, trust me, I check Oreo's behind quite often too, almost as often as I check this site. LOL.

I am very very excited now, but no vaginal discharge yet. Molly had her mucus plug right almost out about 6 hrs before the birth...which was midnight when we went to bed. Oreo hasn't been licking her bottom either.

I am still believing it will be tomorrow night, she IS due tomorrow. Cats are notorious for giving birth at night. Her mom was only 4 hrs after midnight of her due date. I don't want to get cocky though and confident that she will definitely have them tomorrow, my cats have made me look like a fool before LOL just not often with due dates. Molly was day 65.

I will definitely be on here as soon as it happens. I have a laptop but I can't find the charger for it. Hubby thinks he doesn't have it (which I know he does somewhere in his desk). I need him to let me investigate!! I just hate touching his desk. If I find it, I will be able to announce the birth AS its happening.

I keep checking this thread too.

Good luck to you and momma!

Of course, it's after 1am here and I can't sleep. No babies yet guys....I will keep you all posted throughout the day tomorrow with any visible signs. She was more lovey tonight, but I made sure to pay more attention to her. I've been not myself all week and I think the cats have picked up on it and have left me to sort it out. They're so intuitive.

Molly showed more love to me later tonight in bed, which is an improvement since our baby died. She hasn't looked for him once, nor cried out. I believe she's grieving in her own way by not loving me up like she normally does. She always sleeps with me under the covers and she hasn't since he died. It makes my heart hurt that much worse. Soon though, I will be made to feel better once I have babies in the house to take care of.
