Good morning all

I was sorting through some of my stuff to give away to charity as i dont need it anymore...

So the question is

Do you support any one charity or give to a few?

This time i gave to the North East Air Ambulance

I give to United Way from my paycheck every week and I donate clothes to Goodwill.

Last Christmas, I made 6 baby/child size hats for the Salvation Army and ever since, they have sent me letters asking for money.

When I tried to donate stuff to the local Humane Society a few years ago, they got kind of weird about it so I haven't dealt with them ever since.

I only give to local cat shelters, Cat Haven, Indy Feral. They are always so grateful to get any thing they can use. I always do my research before giving to any animal charities and I prefer the local ones.

Clothes get donated to the Vietnam Veterans Association, (they pick up). Old sheets, pillows and blankets and cat toys go to animal shelters.

Clothing goes to the American Rescue Workers. I donate old towels and blankets to a no-kill shelter. It's not local, but it's the closest no-kill around my area, when we visit our kids, we stop there. I also use cat food coupons to buy food for the shelter. It's not much, but it's something.

I donate used books and magazines to our local library; they have a couple of book sales every year.
Clothing usually goes to the Salvation Army; if it's "better" clothing I either give it to the Ladies of Charity ( a local Catholic group ) or list it on our town's "freestuff" site.
We've also donated bags of cat & dog food to a local group that helps older folks on a fixed income who may need help feeding their pets.

Clothing I usually donate to the Salvation Army. I also have money from my pay go directly to the United Way. I raise money all the time for the local shelter as well as Ca-r-ma (Cat Rescue Maritimes). The only other charity I usually will donate to is IWK Children's Hospital because they truly saved my younger brother's life.

I donate to local animal rescues that have helped me out when I have TNRed. I also donate to Alzheimer's Association. Donate a ton of stuff to Salvation Army rather than yard sales when we have too much stuff.

I give clothes to Goodwill or Salvation Army though that doesnt happen to often because I dont throw alot of stuff out and nor do I shop for clothes enough (maybe once or twice every couple of years). I have tried to donate to the Animal Shelter that is about 20-30 minutes away but they were really weird about accepting sheets and stuff that I didnt need (I figured they could use them for bedding or whatever) I also tried to volunteer there just cleaning out cages walking dogs emptying litter boxes whatever and they basically said no thanks. I do however buy toys with my christmas money for toys for tots and will pick an angel off a tree at walmart and buy something for whoever I pick. That atleast I know will go to someone who really needs the help.

When I weed out (clothing, household goods, etc.) I donate to the Michigan Community Services and Salvation Army. We (my parents & I) also adopt a family at Christmas time.

When I'm cleaning "stuff" out, I take all of it to The Salvation Army. There's a big branch just a few blocks from me.

Money wise, if I can afford it, my charity is Komen For The Cure (breast cancer). If there's a huge disaster (earthquake in Haiti, etc.), I'll donate to Lutheran World Disaster Relief.
