Yep, and I honestly have no idea why Hurt Locker won, it wasn't THAT good.

I used to love watching these award shows. But have lost interest several years ago.

At one time they focused on actual people and their talents, now it's more about who can spend the most money, blow up the most things, and everything worthy of an award seems to be computer generated material.

Compared to today and 20 years ago, there are no "great actors." They are all being over shadowed by the latest CG and F/X Effects. It's not about your acting talent anymore, it's about how good you look in the costume and how attractive you look on screen.

One of my favourite movies is "Fargo". Compared to today's motion pictures, it's hugely low budget, but the actor's talent shines through and so does the storyline. Which to me is what a movie should be.

I haven't seen either of the movies that were up for best picture. I do want to see Avatar purely for the 3D experience. The other movie, I can't get beyond the title "The Hurt Locker", it sounds like a dumb title and usually if I can't get into the title, I won't watch the movie. IE: "Fried Green Tomatoes". I've tried watching, but the title has tainted it for me and I end up turning the channel after 10 minutes.

Can anyone tell me the title of a movie that Kate Winslet played in and won the Best Actress Oscar Award last year. She played a German who gets involved with a boy much younger than her. I wasn't able to watch it on On Demand and it is no longer there but I would like to rent it. Hopefully someone remembers the name of it, thanks.

That's one of my favorite movies too!!! A real gem and wonderful film-making. I can watch it over and over again and still be riveted.

And, yes, Kate Winslet won for The Reader last year.

I LOVE Fargo too. Pretty much any Coen Brothers movie, I love.

Whoa! You're missing some GOOD movies!

What's in a name? A "hurt locker" is a place. It's slang that it used to describe being in physical or emotional pain. In the case of the film its used not only to describe that an explosive device can severly wound someone, if it doesn't outright kill them, but to also provide insight into a person's emotional state. Each of the three main characters in the film react to the stress in different ways.

I didnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t watch the awards but I was happy to see that “The Hurt Locker†won. I mean ya, Avatar is one of the best movies I have ever seen, it affected me greatly and that doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t happen very often. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve never had my emotions go up and down so much in a movie… but… the Hurt locker was comparable, if they gave the hurt locker 500million dollars it could have been crazy awesome as well.

The fact the “The Hurt Locker†was comparable to such a high budget film on a much, much lower budget makes me happy they won.
