I am so sorry. You must be in shock. God, I don't know what to say. He was a beautiful cat. I am so sorry. You are in our prayers.

Thank you everyone for being there.. I got an email back from the shelter and they said the same thing happened to some other cat about a month ago and they thought the same thing- heart condition.. By time i got up this morning my bf had buried him already

This is Duke with his best cat friend Willie..

I found Willie meowing by the window and then again by the basement door meowing really loud last night. Those 2 were always sleeping together... (They have the same mama- the one im still trying to catch-who i am sure is prego AGAIN) but they are from different litters a year apart... I had a dream last night i caught her!!! hope that comes true soon

I'm so, so sorry this happened to you. Could it have been possible heart failure? My boy Spliff passed away in Dec from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart, basicaly), and we never saw any symptoms until he had his first bout of heart failure and survived, but the day he passed, he was normal, we were sharing a muffin, and all of a sudden he collapsed. It happened very quickly. Just know in your heart that your boy is thankful you found him when you did and tried to save him, he was very lucky to have you as an owner, and please be at peace knowing you did all you could have for him. He passed peacefully in his home with you and his other kitty friends around, not in a scary hospital alone, or without you there. You did everything you could, and you should be proud.

Oh wow... I am so sorry for your loss....
I am thinking... Is there a possibility of poisoning? Do your cats go outside? Are the neighbors putting rat poison around?
This is too much of a coincidence... I never seen this happen before...
I am so sorry... RIP Miss Kitty

I am so very sorry first of all for Duke. I just read this thread. How awful for you to have gone through that last year. And now, again!!! I, too, wonder if there is something outside they are getting into that is poisonous. It could just be a coincidence that two of your cats had heartworm or heart disease. But I would look into the possibility of a toxin too. Again, very sorry for your losses

They are indoor- outdoor cats.. but Miss Kitty didnt go out much and if she did she would only go out on the porch for like 5 minutes and come right back in.. I dont have any close neighbors so she could not have been poisoned.. i just dont know.. I opened the closet to get my coat out and she meowed and tried to go in and i said no-no Miss Kitty.. I shut the door, put my coat on and heard a thump.. she had her little paws at her ears. her tongue fell out.. her eyes were fully dilated and then she went limp. I tried everything possible believe you me.. she was gone in a minute.... freaky is all i know

Yes, Duke and her had the same mama. but a year apart in age. Miss Kitty was born in August 2007 and Duke was July of 06. the mama had another litter last Aug. and one died at i think at 4 weeks old.. thank god i finally caught HER and had her spayed....
