Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Ok so heres the deal. I collect monkeys and always wanted a sock monkey pattern. Well I found one and even found a crochet forum!! Well lemme tell ya guys!! Those peoples just arent as avid about forums as we are here!!! If any of you crocheting cat lovers out there have done projects in rounds PLEASE TELL ME WHAT AN ADJUSTABLE RING is!! And if its that magic circle junk (just doesnt work well for a lefty lemme tell ya tried it) is there another way to start a round? The pattern doesnt call for chain so many then join with a slip stitch it just says this:
Rnd 1: With color A, 6 sc in adjustable ring (6)

Yea well adjustable ring my batookus!! Ya gotta tell me what it is!!! I am dying to use my Lily Sugar N Cream green twist yarn on making my own sock monkey and once I get mine done Im going to make one for my SIL who is soon due to have her son and thennnnnn the other SIL just found out she is pregnant so Ill have to make one for her!!!! But for the life of me I cant figure out what an adjustable ring is!!! Geez I feel so darn dumb!!!

Thanks guys!! Atleast on here I know someone will atleast tell me they cant help me rather that feeling like there is not another member in sight to help!!!!

This is the method I use. I like it because it doesn't have the two strands of yarn. I never got the ring to close properly. A ring is a bit clumsy to learn, but for amigurumi and hats, the results are much nicer than a circle of chain stitches.

Here is another site that gives some alternative to the magic ring.

Many patterns are not complete as the author assumes you know what she means. I don't know what a adjustable ring is. I haven't run into that termrecently. I am left handed so I crochet & knit backwards. I used circular needles for chemo hats. I don't want to joined the ends by sewing. My right hand holds the needle with the thread and I knit with the left handed needle. Be careful you don't twist the yarn. I have a ring. For crocheting the walker bags (extremely popular here. I cast on 41 stitches and dc crochet in front part of the stitch. the pattern doesn't call too chain 2 stitches and return and dc in the back part of stitch. It makes a solid bottom & side. The directions are not clear at all.

I don't know if this will help or not.

I think I got it figured out. I just kind of winged it because I was getting so irritated trying to figure it out. It seems like its impossible to try and find good leftie crochet instructions. Most everything Ive learned Ive found off You Tube and by just flipping any and all instructions backwards!! Thanks for all your help guys..atleast now I know I can come here and get some assistance!!)

Great that you figured it out. I did watch one of the suggested videos and think I could get it done. I am trying to help or teach a 12 year left-handed girl to crochet. Her writing has been changed to the point her fingers would not hold the hook down.
The first time I tried use a circular needle for knitting I twisted my hat so bad no one could tell what is was. No one could help me. With this knitting group I find the everyone has a slightly different way
