I posted earlier about how do I know if the cats are being too aggressive - I am now worrying myself sick. Boo, the resident cat, is 11 months. The new arrival, Bella, is 12 weeks old. Boo really plays rough and sometimes Bella puts up with it, sometimes she cries out, sometimes after crying out, she initiates more play. I have not separated them since I thought they were getting along. If I put them in separate rooms now, would that be more traumatic? When Bella arrived and I had her separated, she cried constantly, when I put Boo in the room, she sulked for hours and ignored me. She is still sort of ignoring me over all of this. It has been 4 days of being together - nearly 2 weeks since Bella arrived. Please help, everyone. What do I do?

Sounds like right now they are determining the heirarchy in the house. If there hasn't been any bloodshed or serious fights, just rough playing, they should be OK. Obviously keep an eye on them to make sure, but you don't have to worry yourself to death.
(We don't interefere until we hear Ophelia squealing, but she also learned at a young age that if she squeals Trent gets in trouble. So sometimes she just squeals when she doesn't feel like playing, not when she's even pinned down or anything!

You could set up some type of a barrier (like a baby door) to prevent them from touching each other, but they are still close enough to each other, that they shouldn't be mad at you. They can rub against, and smell each other, but can't get to each other.

I agree with Heidi... it sounds as if everything is going great for it being only four days into the introduction. Once they are more used to each other things will calm down. Things sound like things are going pretty well to me!
