I want to mention that all questions here are just for the unique porpoise of fun and of course, to stay in touch with all members, and to know what do you think about it…
of course sometimes some questions are a kind of silly but funniest in the bottom!..

My question is directly about the Tragedy that happen in Haiti & Chile...

Do you think that the Animals HAVE a sense to predict a Natural dissaster like the Earthquakes?...

Have you ever read something about this?...

Do you think their NATURE sense of Survival can make they know about something bad?...
...

Hmmmmmmmm, I have never experienced it myself but I have heard that animals can predict adverse weather.

I think that some animals are sensitive to things like pressure change, or can hear very low frequency sounds, or are just very much more aware of their environment than the average human, and all these things can make them able to sense something like an earthquake, tsunami, tornado etc.
I don't think they have any kind of magical sixth sense though. They just seem that way from a human's perspective.

I have heard this same thing, like when thunder is about to happen the animals can hear it before we do.

There are a Colloquial expresion here that is more less "The Rats leave the Boat"...that mean when the sitiuation is irreversible should happen this....

Many of the ancient & old people of my region have some "historys" about that the ants are the firts to find a new place and begin the "move" for a safety place....

I have witnessed my cats behaving oddly during tornado warnings. Cleo becomes very clingy, and Maggie is even more timid than usual, and hides in the basement.

I definitely believe it. My cats start to act different when there's a storm brewing. The outside birds leave the feeders when a storm is coming during warm weather; during the winter they attack the feeders more than normal when bad weather is coming. They know something's up.

Bella is an excellent barometer. I guess she can sense changes in the pressure. She will begin to pace and become anxious a few hours before a storm hits.

I've also heard that animals can "sense" things. I live in Florida and a few years ago when we had Hurricane Wilma I expected our most timid cat to be spooked. Odd thing was that of the 3 he was the only one that didn't seem bothered by the noise and the wind outside. Our brave one (who was a stray) was the one that seemed more upset. And she never seems afraid of anything.

Luckily no natural disasters have happened where I live, mine do go even more nuts before rain (a rare event)

I know some people who lost homes on Black Saturday (bush fires) report their animals were acting strange before it happened.

Exactly. And it does make sense that they would have some of these instincts left from earlier, wilder generations, when they needed to find shelter/protect babies before whatever hit.

Sometimes cats will jump on a shelf or something before an earthquake hits. I think they feel something in their paws or hear something. I know a storm is coming when seagulls are in the air here, (usually in my job's parking lot,
) We live about 80 - 100 miles as the crow flies from the coast. Of course there are mountains between here and the coast.

Absolutely. I really believe that they know. In fact, when we're under a watch or warning, I'll keep a watchful eye on the cats to see how they're acting.

Hey, I'm a few days late with this one!

One time a feral cat showed up at my house carrier a young kitten in her mouth. She dropped it on the ground next to my house then headed back into the woods behind our property for 2 more. She then left. A storm was brewing so we quickly made a shelter over the kittens to keep them out of the rain.

2 hours later a tornado devastated the woods that she came from. The funny thing about that tornado was that even the weather forecasters didn't see it on their radar screen and we had no warning about it until it was on top of us.

The next morning the mom returned with a fourth kitten. I still wonder where she road out that storm. She clearly sensed it coming.

My Lucky Pierre was part of that litter.
