My poor Go got pecked by an angry mommy bird in the garden. Funny part is that Go was not doing anything. He was on the ground just walking along when this bird zoomed from above and beat his head with its wing. I will see if I can find a picture of the bird. They are very aggressive when their eggs are hatched.
My silly dog, Virac, came to the rescue. He barked shooing the bird away. Go misunderstood though, and thought Virac was after him. Go ran to me for safety. Poor baby!

Doggy to the rescue, I love that! Poor Go... That's what he gets for ever thinking a bird would make a good meal.

The picture you posted looks like a Blue Jay. They are very territorial and protective They often swoop down on top of a person's head also. Be glad it was Go and not you. Poor baby, give him some extra love today and don't let him in the garden.

Oh, a type of fantail. I have an Australian friend that mentioned a family of them that she had in her backyard (which is a small bamboo jungle) that gave her cats trouble.

Oh, yeah, the birdies are quite vicious when they have babies to protect! Your tale instantly brought back a memory from over 20 years ago -- a lunchtime in my back yard, with Shasta just wanting to be with Mum, and this &$&^%&#&^%@#^%$ robin dive bombing her so thoroughly that she took refuge inside. Poor darling. She didn't have a dog to come to her rescue.

In our area, mockingbirds are famous for this kind of attack.

Poor Go! I hope he was not too traumatized.

My RB kitties and twin brothers, Fred and Mr. Kitty were being mercilessly attacked by mockingbirds and I guess they got tired of it. Mr. Kitty would lie on his back by the car tire like he was sunning his belly, and Fred would hide behind it. When the bird dive bombed the exposed kitty belly, Fred would pounce from under the tire. They never killed a bird, but they got a few mouthfuls of feathers.

Did they really work together like that? That's too funny! Clever kitties.

They were always doing stuff like that. We would sit on the porch in the evenings watching them play and get in to things. They were better entertainment than tv.
