My, How Time Flies!

I was warned that she wouldn't stay small for long, but I had no idea it would go this quickly!

Sophie with the mouse, at approximately 7 weeks of age...

A few days ago, Sophie (now around 7 months) decided to pay her old friend the mouse another visit, and as soon as I saw her "pose," I had to snap a photo for comparison purposes. And wow, what a difference!

From a beautiful little kitten, to a beautiful young cat...in what feels like such a short time! So glad I had the opportunity to snap two such similar poses, it really drives home how far she's come.

If anyone else has "then and now" photos, I'd love to see them.

[Also, just a quick disclaimer: yes, there are cigarette packs/cartons visible in both pics, but I do not smoke around my precious girl! This little kitty probably added a few years to my life by moving in with me, because I've cut back on the smokes significantly since I've had to start going outside in the cold!]

Here's my before and after of Shareena. I don't have that piano any more so can't do one with her full-grown.

Aw, Sophie is SO cute! I adopted Holland as an older kitten around 5 months of age, and she's a small girl anyway, so my "then and now" photos don't have much contrast:

The night I brought her home:

And now:

I wish I had pictures with the same kind of reference as you have with the mouse, but I couldn't find any!! The biggest difference with Holland is that her belly was still shaved from her spay when I brought her home. I also think her face is quite a bit less "kittenish" now.

OMG! How adorable are those pics!!!!!! Now I have to see if I have some of Maia......

Your pics are great, you caught her in the same pose, and you can really see the "kitten face" vs the "cat face"! Holland is so lovely! Such a sweet face, and she's looking up at you so adoringly (that pesky camera was just getting in the way! )

And Goldycat, your comparison is better than mine! All Shareena needed to do was twitch her tail over to the left in the second picture and it would've been a carbon-copy! Another little beauty, and with obvious musical talents!

Aww I love the before & after!! What a beautiful kitty

Aw, thanks! She actually has on her "grumpy" face in that second photo... she tends to put that face on when I pull out the camera.

I love this thread idea, I hope we get lots more then & now photos!!

They grow up so fast!

Ari - about 4mos here (2005)

A later pic on my old monitor for comparison, taken about a year later

Taken last summer - big kitty, little perch

OMG! I just realized it's almost time for his 5th birthday!

Awwwww, I love this thread! When I get home I will soooo have to post Pirate's baby pictures and what he looks like now. Out of four cats, he's the only one that I had as a kitten. The rest were all adopted as adults so I didn't get to see them as kittens. But sometimes I wonder what they would've been like as kittens... Oh well, I guess I will never know...

Cute kitties everyone!

Aww, same age as my Abbey. I can't believe how fast she grew.

I love before and after pics! All the cats here are so cute. Sophie is so precious as a baby and so gorgeous in the second pic. And, Holland is gawgeous. Love the black cats.

I love how you caught Cable in almost the EXACT same pose!!! My goodness, what a difference you can tell in all three of them, the love you've given them has transformed them. Firefox looks like a whole new cat!! Java's markings are amazing. Gorgeous little ones!!!

Belle and Delilah the night I brought them home:

And about a year ago, and just over a year old!

Babies in a basket!

Big girls in a basket! (Not quite full grown here...we we still have the basket, but it's typically occupied solo now!)

This thread still gives me warm fuzzies! Seeing all the precious little ones and how they've grown!

It's especially sweet because I know so many of them were rescued (maybe all from this thread?)...seeing the timid little ones and then the healthy, sleek, content results after a few months/years of love and attention, just does my heart good.

Of course, no matter how grown up they are, they will always be our "babies"!

So very true! When I adopted Neko she was infested with fleas, earmites, tapeworms, and some other worm (cant remember name)! Poor baby was constantly shaking her head. She was the last from her litter to be adopted. We went straight to the vet! Now she's my happy healthy baby

D'ohhhhhhhhhhh, it's a Sophie-clone! Sooty is not only identical to Sophie in the "Now" photos (albeit a little bigger!), he's the first other kitty I've seen that looked like a little fox as a baby! You can especially see it in the pic of the two of them in the bed. That photo, by the way, REALLY makes me want to go out and get Sophie a playmate. Stop tempting me this way!

Yes!! And I'm positive that they *know* exactly who's responsible for saving them...which is why they respond to us with such unconditional love and devotion.
