With all my crocheting stuff Ive been doing I was looking for a sewing machine to make liners for purses and all that kinda stuff. BF and I found a 1954 Singer Sewing Machine in a shed on the farm just laying there in its original table. Bad news is that the pedal is is broken but its still a neat decoration for the house. His Gram then gave us a 1908 Singer Sewing Machine that works and has its original table and all original attachments and stuff and bonus it works!! How neat is that stuff!! I took some pictures of them both so yall could see them.

Also here is the new purse that Im finishing up making...I got some heavy duty purple fabric to make a lining for it.

Wow, those machines will sew through 6 layers of denim, no problem! When I was a kid, I taught myself to sew on a (black) ~1950 Singer machine in a cabinet, I even sewed leather on that thing. Yours are very cool, I love the green one, purse is nice, too.

Looks like you've got a fur lining instead of fabric.

Ruh roh - you are turning into me! I have a working treadle machine (no idea of its age), an early 1950's working Singer black featherlight, a 1960's era industrial Rex machine, plus 2 working newer machines, a serger, and an embroidery machine.

Sewing machines are fun!

Nice!!! I love sewing machines!! I have my Mom's from the early 1960's.

Here is a picture of what it looks like. It's a Singer 411

http://www.toolfool.org/sewing/411G.htm

It works great. In all the time we've had it, it has only cost me $64.00 for cleaning and a new presser foot. It has a huge number of attachments and can do all kinds of stitching from plain to fancy and even drapery and pleats.

Those two old machines might be worth enough to buy you a car!

Dottie has an old Featherweight that I am working on restoring. One in good shape is worth a couple thousand dollars, when the market is good (which it isn't, right now).

I have an old machine in a nice cabinet too. I think it is a Royal but can't check right now. We use it as a TV stand.. LOL It looks like a treadle but is electric. The cord is very frayed so I don't trust it. It also uses a special long bobbin which I lost a long time ago.

I bought it 1974 from a neighbor for $35. I think it is almost 100 yrs old now. I have no idea what it would be worth today, but I am guessing a few hundred at least. I wish Antique Roadshow would do a show here as I would take it in. It is very heavy though.

Im going to use the 1908 one today to hem up our curtains that GiGi has decided is her personal play place. Bfs gram got it at a yard sale for 5 bucks. This summer I think we are going to sand down the 1954 one and restain it as close as we can get to the original color and maybe I can find a pedal replacement for it on Ebay cheap to fix it. I cant wait to start sewing stuff all the things that I didnt want to fix because I would have had to sew them by hand!! It just has the geek inside me all sorts of excited!!!)

**BTW ohhh it only took about 5 minutes to add the "fur" lining to the purse. Makes it very warm and snuggly!! But it might just be a bit too bulky to carry around...LOL**
