Good morning!

Here's today's Question Of The Day.

Have you ever bleached your teeth?

I had mine done by my dentist (with a custom tray, and stronger than OTC bleach) about 15 years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get the results I desired because my teeth were discolored by Tetracycline back when I was a child. At one time, I had looked into veneers for the top, front 6 teeth, but the price was so expensive that I can't even consider it.

Yes, I did, about two years ago. I smoked for 20 years and it took its toll on my teeth. Had them bleached (I think it was called ZOOM?) and I keep up with it, using the kit that the dentist gave me. The process didn't get them sparkling white or anything like that, but it definitely helped.

I have used Crest whitening strips, but that's all. I didn't see much difference.

I used the Crest whitening strips, too, but had to stop after a few days. I have really sensitive teeth and those things were killing me!
I use a whitening toothpaste; that's as far as I'll go now.

No, but I use whitening toothpaste. I used those whitening stripes quite frequently maybe 10 years ago and I really found them effective (but expensive)

I have never had my teeth whitened by the dentist, but people always ask me who my dentist is because they want their teeth whitened there too
The only thing I do is chew whitening gum a few times a week. I swear by that stuff! Orbit bubblegum is my favorite
I don't use whitening toothpaste either.

I use Whitening toothpaste with scope it has to be the green kind not blue. I hate the taste of blue toothpaste. I do use one of those home whitening gel kits with the rubber mouth guard you just squirt the goo in and then leave it for 15 min. I use it longer than 15 min because I always forget about it and take it out after I start drooling uncontrolably from having the mouth guard in. The one thing I try and do when I use the kit is NOT drink coffee or smoke atleast an hour before I use it and I try and aim for 2 hrs after I use it but I make sure I brush my teeth and floss really really good before I use it and I use the mouthwash that came with the kit. As an avid coffee drinker and smoker it really works. I notice a HUGE difference when I use it regularly. I havent used it since the summer and I can tell its time for me to use it again.

No never but I should try something, just don't know which is the best and safest to buy over the drug counter.

Hello again! I asked my dentist about it once, but he said my teeth were already white enough and would have no benefit. He said he'd be glad to take my money for the treatment though!

No, I can't afford the expense of it at the dentist office since we don't have dental insurance. I have used the Crest white strips. They help some. I used once a day instead of two times as I didn't want my teeth to get sensitive.

I bought a bleaching kit off ebay, with the teeth shields and everything but the first time I used it I think I put a bit too much in and it hurt-so I have not bothered since, I will stick to whitening toothpaste I think

I use whitening strips and also this whitening gel that you put overnight with a whitening tray...
Just like whitening strips the stuff has hydrogen peroxide. I do notice a difference but there is only a certain degree to which my teeth can be whitened, because depending on genes each persons teeth color is different. And the stuff doesn't make a huge difference because I am not a smoker nor coffee drinker, so my teeth aren't really more yellow or darker than they should be to begin with..So I don't whiten them often maybe once every few months, not the recommended daily for 2 weeks instruction.
For people whose teeth are stained by coffee, hydrogen peroxide whitening products make a huge difference, my mom used it and made a huge difference for her.
Although I do everything to keep my my teeth white and shiny, my teeth just don't show very much when I talk, only when I smile lol, I guess it's just my facial structure..so that kinda makes me mad because I do like my teeth.

I've used the Crest Whitestrips several times. They work pretty well for me.
(I do have exceptionally sensitive teeth though, so my hygenist told me to put a tiny pinch of vasoline on my gumline above my teeth so that the whitestrips won't discolor/make my gums sensitive if they slip a little. That little trick works well! I also don't whiten daily when I use them...I use them every other day and use Sensodyne w/ whitening when I'm whitening my teeth so that they're not as sensitive.
