On January 19 my husbands aunt was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. By February 1st she had had a double mastectomy and is cancer free, but will be doing chemo.

On February 25th his uncle (the husband) was diagnosed with a very rare aggressive cancer, affecting his liver. Tomorrow they will be removing 73% of is liver, in hopes to remove all of the cancer. Only 300 cases of this type of cancer are diagnosed a year. The prognosis even with treatment is 3-4 years.

Their names are Bil and Yvonne, please pray for them or if thats not what you do send good thoughts. They are going through a lot!

Thanks
Leslie

Oh my gosh that is terrible that both of them have to go through that together. Cancer is a really tough thing to go through. My fiance was diagnosed with stage two testicular cancer in November, but he's done with treatments now. I hope the best for your aunt and uncle!

Good vibes are being sent your way!

I'm sending many, many thoughts and prayers to both Bil and Yvonne that they will both have full and permenant recoveries.

Just wondering, do they have any kids?

I wanted to update and first thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts and vibes.

The surgery went well this morning, they did not have to take as much of the liver as originally planned and very little blood loss, no blood transfusion needed and he is in a regular room, not ICU. Praise God!

Alittle more about Bill and Yvonne. They have only been married for 18 months, but have been dating for nearly 10 years I believe. Yvonne has two daughters from a previous marrage, one is married and has a daughter (and another on the way, which they announced last night) the other in college. Bill has no children but, my husband and his two brothers are as close as it comes to sons.

We are keeping positive, as are they--Bill was making jokes with the MD this morning when getting anesthesia started. Yvonne started chemo at the end of last week, and has got her wig and will be shaving her head prior to next weeks chemo treatment. She loves her hair and its always perfect!

This battle isn't new to our family. My mom is 3.5 years breast cancer free. My grandmother beat breast cancer and colon cancer. My great uncle recently fought and beat bladder cancer.

Something that I'm really trying to help my husband to understand, is that we have to live for today. We can't dwell on "worse case scenario". Regardless of whether we've been given a diagnosis of cancer or not, we should live like we'll never see tomorrow. I've taken on outlook on life with that theory.

Thanks again

Leslie
