New, Fostering Pregnant Kitty, question?

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum, so hello hello. I need some advice. A pregnant kitty was found downtown in the city where I live. I have a huge heart for cats (I have 3 of my own), and so of COURSE i got suckered into taking her in. It's actually perfectly fine with me, because she is one of the sweetest, most affectionate cats I've ever met. She's probably thankful to be out of the cold. Anyways, I can't keep Penelope (mama cat) or any of the kittens since I've already got cats, and my friend who found her agreed to take her and the kitties in and find homes for some and keep the rest. Penelope is due this weekend, and my friend is wanting to come pick them up the first week of April and transport them 3 hours away to her home in another state. Is this a good idea? My gut tells me no, but then again, I have never raised kittens before so not sure if people transport kittens so young? her vet told her it was ok to move them as early as 2 weeks! Please let me know your thoughts. Also, Penelope is FIV positive, so keep that in mind.

Oh yes, sure!
Especielly as she is high pregnant and she knows she must have some safe place to deliver and bring up her children.

Cats do have an ability to please themselves in, and in this situation - it will be thrice as strong.

Tx for helping her out in her distress, and good luck!

To the question, if they are movable at 4 weeks.

I think they are. Barn cats moms, who usually wisely do hid their small kittens (big risk for drowning them if found when they are newborn), do take them back home when they are around 4-5 weeks.

So I believe moving at that time, although not necessary optimal, is feasible.
If you cant give them more, this will be more than enough.

But they are of course not adoptable yet at 4-5 weeks.
They should be with their mom and siblings to at least 10 weeks, preferably 12.

As long as the mother is being transported with them, the kittens should be fine moving at 4 weeks. Of course, it could turn out to be a very noisy move.

They should be fine, as long as they are moved with their mum and stay with her during the trip. Make sure a large carrier is provided! Line it well, and a 3 hour trip may get a little noisy and stinky but once they are in their new home it'll be worth it.

Best wishes and hope the birthing all goes smoothly!

Thank you all very much for your responses! Picking the kitties up in 4 weeks has now been put on the backburner, as momma was due last weekend and she still hasn't had her kitties! She was a stray, so there was no telling when she actually got pregnant, but the vet estimated that last weekend she would go into labor. Well, we are almost a week past that date and she doesn't seem any closer than she was last week. Stomach hasn't dropped, I haven't seen a mucous plug, no milk leaking, NOTHING! She does not seem to be in any pain at all, she is just uncomfortable (and rightly so because she is HUGE!). I am just trying to let her do her thing and not get stressed, but believe me I am anxious for her to have them already! Anyways, just keeping you guys updated! Keep little Penelope in your thoughts that everything goes well when the time comes, because she is such a little thing
