I put a roast in my new slow cooker today before leaving for work. I bought pre-cut/peeled carrots, and those mini potatoes. I had to peel and cut up a turnip today and then program the slow cooker.

I programmed it to cook on high for 1 hour and low for 8 hours. I hope it's cooking! This is the first time I've used it, so I guess I'll find out if I did it right when I get home at 5 pm!

You're a brave soul, leaving it unattended the first time you use it. The cooking times are really only approximate. I hope you put plenty of liquid in it.

You are indeed a brave soul, leaving it unattended the first time you use it. I hope it turns out great. (BTW, did you remember to plug it in? Not that I'd ever make a mistake like that

It turned out pretty good. Next time I won't cook on high for an hour though. The veggies that were resting against the sides of the crock turned out a bit dark: Not burned, but dark.

I had put about 1/2 cup of water into the crock and that was adequate. There was about 1 cup of stock after it was cooked.

Next time I use it will be Sunday. I want to cook a pork roast. I'll be home though so I'll be able to keep an eye on it.

I love using a crock pot....it's nice to come home from work and have most of your meal waiting for you.

I LOOOOVE my slow cooker, my automatically goes to the warm setting after the times runs out. It's awesome. I don't use it as much now, since I'm home during the day.

We always just put ours on low for 8 hours. When we make roast, instead of using water we use red wine. It makes it soooo good and makes a very yummy gravy.
Now I want roast. I am using my crock pot today making perogie casserole.

Glad your meal turned out good.
I always use a 'crock-pot liner' when I cook now. I love being able to just throw the mess away.
BTW---my crockpot was a wedding gift. I've been using it for (ready?) 35 years! Maybe I should write a testimonial and send it to the manufacturer; they might send me a new model!

Congrats on the good dinner, especially for the first time you used the pot.
I have one, but I don't have any good crock pot recipes. Maybe someone who knows how to use it needs to start a thread for recipes.

I get a lot of my crock pot recipes off the betty crocker website. They have some really good ones and you can search by different cuisine types, ingredients, etc.
