Working for a small, weekly Catholic newspaper, I don't have the chance to have to interview many well know people. But, on Sat. afternoon, I had the chance to speak with Louie Vito, who appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" last season and came in fifth the men's halfpipe snowboarding event in the Olympics. His parents are members of a parish in the area our newspaper covers and Louie is known for his generosity in giving back to the church and local community. He's a nice young man and used the words "cool" and "stoked" a lot during the interview.

I was pretty "stoked" to hear from him because I turned down the chance to interview him on short notice last Wed. His mom called to say she could probably get him on the phone, but I was on my way out of the office to take my oldest kitty, Katie, to the vet. It was just a check up, so I offered to reschedule, but his mom thought it was sweet about Katie and told me she'd have him call another time. It's pretty "cool" that Louie does what his mom tells him to do.

He's definitely a better snowboarder than he is a dancer.
He did his best, though, and had tons of support from back home.

Spoke to his folks and sister yesterday by phone as they were heading back from Vancouver. His mom said that after our interview Louie told her, "Sr. Eileen is really cool."

That is super exciting Eileen! I watched him on both, my DH rememebers him too from the dancing but only because he danced with "the hot chick"
But yeah we watched him at the Olympics too and we're really excited to see him do his stuff there after seeing him dance.
