Luca has been ordered by the vet to be in confinment for 2 weeks now, we are taking him back to the vet tomorrow evening, however this morning I went to check on him and he had cut the top of his nose, its all dried blood now but its so scary.

I feel so bad for our little guy, he just wants out of the cage so badly!

What do I do to treat it, or do I just let it hear on its own?

I missed your other posts; why must he be confined? is he the kitty with the luxated patellas? If not, how big is your cage? If he doesn't have to be confined such that he's not really able to walk around much (but just kept from running all over the house), would it help to maybe have a bigger cage? What type of cage is it? Can he see out of it easily? Can you sit it out in the open so that he can see you and doesn't feel so isolated? Have you thought of trying some Feliway Spray to help de-stress him? (spray it in the cage - make sure it's completely dried before putting cat back in).....or a Feliway Diffuser?

One of my kitties got a scratch on her nose once, a pretty deep one (one of the others must have scratched her good). I just applied Neosporin to it twice a day and kept a close eye on it, checking for redness, pus, etc. It healed nicely.

I would maybe give the vet a call tomorrow and ask if there is something you can do to help calm kitty......maybe a very mild med that will help kitty relax? I suppose if he keeps rubbing against the cage like that, he might need to wear an e-collar, particularly so that he doesn't make cut on nose worse/not allow it to heal.

There are always cats at the shelter who scrape their noses on cage bars, as long as its not infected, there is little you can do, but since you are going to the vet anyway, I would ask them - there are cage guards you can buy (like foam to go over the bars) and I second using Feliway and asking if there is a larger area you can confine your cat to. Whenever we have confined a cat, we use a small room with no furniture rather than a cage, and if it needs a cage, we use a dog crate

Yes he is the kitten with luxating patellas,. The cage is pretty large, it has his litter box, his "take the the vet" carrier, his food and water, and room to walk alittle and lay down. The cage has holes in it so he can see out, but we need to keep him in the bedroom with the door closed so he can't play with our other cat and hurt his knees more.

Yeah I guess we'll see what the vet says tonight and hopefully he'll be allowed out of confinment and we're told he's getting better slowly and doesn't need the sugury.

I'll keep everyone posted.
