Good Morning. Welcome to the Spotlight. Here are a few questions for you. The theme is (mostly) desert island, i.e. suppose you were stranded on one... and don't worry about the technology to support your choices, that will be taken care of...

1. What would be your five Desert Island CDs? They don't need to come from your own collection. Why would you choose these particular ones?

2. You might also want some reading material. What would be your five Desert Island books? Why?

3. What else would you like to have with you to occupy your time and your mind?

4. You'll also need food. If you could have only two or three foods and nothing else, what would you choose? Why?

5. If you could have one human companion, who would that be? Why?

This one is not part of the theme:

6. If you came into a large sum of money -- an unexpected inheritance, a winning, whatever, but "set-you-up-for-life" big -- what would be the first four things you would do?

Good Afternoon! And here we go!

1.- ¿Do you know MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]xico?
…as a country or as a city?

I am familiar with Mexico, but have never been in the country. You see, there are not enough drugs and alcohol in the universe to get me back on an airplane. And since I live in central PA, it would take a long time to drive there. So unfortunately no.

2.- ¿Wich part exactly?
are you came by business or by vacations?

See my answer to #1.

3.- Have you ever hearded about MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]rida Yucatán MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]xico????..
.. Is the place where I´m live!
….As you can see in Yucatán is located Chichen Itza (Mayan Ruins) one of the New 7 wonders of the Modern world!...

Here´s the link my friend..(about my city and you can see something too about Chichen….http://www.yucatantoday.com/index.php

The first time I really heard about MÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]rida was when I read the post about that being your home town. I will check the link out when I get home from work. From your pictures, it is a beautiful place to live.

4.- Can you speak spanish?

No. When I was in college, I considered taking a Spanish class, but then took Italian with my friend instead.

5.- Do you have some CD of Spanish music? do you like it?

I do not have any Spanish musical CDs.

6.- Have you ever to watched a Mexican Movie? ( I mean with Spanish Dialogs?)

Sorry, but no. I'm not doing very well! I'm sorry.

7.-Do you like the Mexican Food?
( do you have any preference for example: burritos, Tacos, rice & beans, etc?)

Ok, now we're there! I love Mexican food. Of course, tacos, enchiladas, tamales, etc. I love to visit Mexican restaurants. There is an authentic (it's supposed to be authentic) Mexican restaurant in my town and we've gone there several times. We have never been disappointed. I can make enchiladas, empanadas, etc. But I'm sure they're not very authentic. I love red beans and rice, but that might be more of a Cajun thing from southern USA, not Mexican.

8.-Do you like the Tequila?
...or else Mexican Alcoholic beverage?

Oh yes! I have very fond memories of tequila!

9.- Have you ever to sleeped in a hammock?

Not overnight, but we have a hammock in the back yard during the summer and I've taken more than my share of naps on summer days.

10.- Have you ever to saw the traditional mexican clothes?

I've never seen them in person.

11.- Do you to know Cancun Mexico? ( Is a beach)
( here´s the link my friend: )
http://www.travelyucatan.com/cancun.php

I know of Cancun. My son and daughter-in-law honeymooned there.

I would love to visit Mexico. The idea of actually seeing Chichen Itza, of visiting the Yucatan, it's amazing. Some paleontologists think that the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs landed there. Like I said, though, I panic at the mere thought of flying anymore.

I promise to check out the links when I get home from work!

1. What would be your five Desert Island CDs? They don't need to come from your own collection. Why would you choose these particular ones?

Anything by Aerosmith
A collection of greatest hits by Deep Purple
A collection of greatest hits by AC/DC
Anything by Billy Joel
A collection of various artists that I like

2. You might also want some reading material. What would be your five Desert Island books? Why?

Anything by Stephen King
A cookbook on preparing foods with coconuts? (I might need that one)
Alice in Wonderland (my favorite book when I was a child)
I have a gorgeous book on astronomy that I would like to take with me.
Some kind of scientific manual that contains information for desalinating sea water among other things

3. What else would you like to have with you to occupy your time and your mind?

I will take a stove/oven that will never run out of power; imagine what concoctions I could make!

4. You'll also need food. If you could have only two or three foods and nothing else, what would you choose? Why?

Pizza with all the available toppings (That way I could remove toppings as I got bored with them. Think of the versatility)
Pepsi...and not diet either
A good bottle of tequila that was always full
A big bag full of rices and pastas (With that, trust me, I would never go hungry)

5. If you could have one human companion, who would that be? Why?

DH, of course. Frankly, I can't envision me anywhere without him.

This one is not part of the theme:

6. If you came into a large sum of money -- an unexpected inheritance, a winning, whatever, but "set-you-up-for-life" big -- what would be the first four things you would do?

First: Give money to our vet for more space and more equipment. We have a really good vet who cares about our furkids. But the need for money is always there.
Second: Give money to a local no-kill shelter so they could save more animals. (DH and I have actually talked about being able to help a no-kill shelter and helping our animal hospital...it's important.)
Third: Give money to our church for its outreach programs
Fourth: Decide how to give to our relatives
Fifth (sorry, but there is a fifth): I want a new kitchen, darn it! (And another car, but I don't want to be too greedy)

Very interesting questions!

1. What's your favorite hobby?...

Reading, with cooking right up there, too.

2. What's one trait you hate about yourself?

I tend to let people walk all over me for a long time until I can't take it anymore and I'll become angry. And that's because I worry about what people think.

3. Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment

I have to pee! (sorry!
)
I could use another cup of coffee.
Is it 4:00 yet?

4. What do you read in the bathroom?

I seldom read anything in the bathroom because I usually have at least one cat on my lap, one cat sitting on the sink and leaning over to "kiss" my nose, and two more milling around on the floor. Why do cats think that you can't go into the bathroom without them? I mean, what IS there to supurrvise??

5. Current worry right now?

Taking BooBoo to the vet this afternoon and I'm worried about him.

6. Hight heels or low heels are you wearing right now?

Boots with clunky 2-inch heels.

7. Favorite place to be on weekends?

In my kitchen.

8. Where would you like to go?

You mean on a vacation? Ireland, I've always wanted to visit Ireland and spend the night in a haunted castle. Of course, there's that darn flying issue I have.

9. What´s your Favourite pop soda

Pepsi. No diet. Just regular Pepsi. I could live on Pepsi.

10. What colour shirt or blouse are you wearing right now?

I am wearing an olive green, long-sleeved, heavy knit sweater. It's chilly in my office.

Fun questions!

1.- Wich one is your favourite Genre of Music?

Classic rock....I am a child of the 70s.

2.- How many Cd´s do you have?

Probably around 150? We have more albums than CDs, although we are buying CDs for our favorite albums.

3.- Wich one is your favourite singer Male?

I don't really have a favorite, although I like to listen to Steven Tyler yell
, I like Billy Idol's voice and a lot of his music, Gordon Lightfoot, Billy Joel

4.- Wich one is your favourite singer Female?

You know, I hardly ever listen to a female singer. Maybe Pat Benatar? I do like Celtic Women, though....does that count?

5.- Have you ever to listened at http://www.rippingtons.com/ ?????

ummm, no.

6.- Do you have a CD collection? ( I mean for example all Cd´s from a determinate artist???

Let me see: Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, the Eagles, Beatles (although DH is the Beatles fan, not me), Jethro Tull, ZZ Top. We have a lot of Allman Brothers, Skynerd, Alan Parsons, Doobie Bros, Heart. I went through a big REO Speedwagon phase when I was young, so we have a lot of that.

7.- Have you ever to participated in some Concert of your favourite artist?

Aerosmith (4 times), Deep Purple (3 times), ZZ Top (3 times), Jetho Tull, (3 times), Santana, Heart, the Eagles, KISS. We have seen so many concerts, but right now, I'm having a major "brain fart" and can't remember! My DH would be very upset with me right now.

8.- Do you have any preference to listen a Radio FM station???
Have you ever to listened this one??...,….
http://www.1.fm/Station/SmoothJazz/Default.aspx )

I don't listen to the radio at all; there are too many commercials.

9.- In your own opinion wich one is better, a CD original from an artist or an MP3 collage of music without nothing of information?...

I prefer a mix or collection of different artists, instead of one artist only.

10.- Do you play some Musical instrument?…

I took piano lessons for almost 14 years. Started when I was 4 years old. I came home from my first day of kindergarten to a strange man with a piano in my living room. I was married at 16, but my parents still forced me to take lessons until I finally said enough was enough and quit. My mother is still peeved with me over that.

Thanks for the questions!

1. Do you cook? Do you like to, or is it a chore?

I love, love, love to cook! I am happiest when puttering around in the kitchen with my knives, chopping vegetables and herbs, making dinner, making bread, making cookies, trying new recipes, trying to figure out ways to eat healthier, just playing around.

2. Do you like to cook with someone else? How well do you share your kitchen?

I share the kitchen well. If somebody comes, I'm more than happy to have them come into the kitchen and work with me. I like to cook with DH, although we don't get a chance to do so very often. Last year, when we visted with a GF in Connecticut, she and I made homemade ravioli. It was a lot of fun.

When we have people to our house for dinner, I try to get them actively involved in the prep work b/c we can have a ball. Last summer, my sister and her family came in for a Saturday night dinner and we did pizza on the grill. I didn't have to do anything; they liked doing it all themselves. I had made the dough and toppings earlier and we all had a great time.

3. What is your favourite thing to prepare?

I love making bread. It's so satisfying to be elbow-deep in bread dough. Kneading dough is a great stress-releaser. I also love making pizza....mmmmm, pizza!

4. What is your favourite dish that someone else prepares for you? Who?

DH makes a mean lasagna.

5. Either of those favourites might be a comfort food, or not. What is your favourite comfort food?

Pizza. Hands down, it's pizza. A close second is French onion soup.

6. What is your favourite celebration food?

Season a nice, thick delmonico. Throw it on the grill, just long enough to get grill marks. Turn it over, just long enough for the marks to show. Take it off. We don't do steaks often because we don't eat beef that often. I like it rare, very, very rare. Make it moo!

7. When people come to my table, I always ask first whether there are any allergies/sensitivities/likes/dislikes I should keep in mind. If you came to my home, what would your answer be?

*speaking in a very small, whiny voice*: please don't make me eat anchovies!

8. Do you consider yourself adventurous where unfamiliar food is concerned?

I think so. I mean, I wouldn't want to eat Rocky Mountain oysters
, but anything else is pretty much a go. I do eat filled pig stomach (YUM) and love stuffed beef heart.

9. What is your favourite meal of the day?

Breakfast. Probably because I hardly ever get to eat breakfast. A nice vegetable omelet, with some bacon or sausage, toast made from fresh sourdough bread, OJ and coffee. I eat that about once every 3-4 months. My daily breakfast is a cup of coffee and a Granny Smith apple; it's all I have time for in the morning. For me, breakfast is a treat.

Thank you!

Hi AJ!

What is your favourite food of all time?

Pizza. With any toppings (except anchovies)

If you were going to get a take away what would it be?

Realistically? Probably to Niagara-on-the-Lake; there's a gorgeous B & B we've stayed at there. It's amazing. And the breakfasts are just delicious. It's a beautiful area, just perfect for walking. And I can sit and watch the Falls for hours. It's very soothing.

If I would fly? Ireland.

What is your favourite drink? (soft and alcohol if you drink it)

Pepsi. My sister and I both drink tequila sometimes.

Where would you like to visit most?

The Pacific Northwest to see the old growth forests.

What is your favourite season?

Summer. Long, long days to work and play. Long walks to take. Hot and steamy days that I can spend in the pool.

what is your favourite time of the day?

Night time. In the summer, I love to sit out on our swing in the middle of the night and watch the stars. When my son was younger and still lived at home, he and I would spend nights outside during the meteor showers. Just lying there watching the sky.

what is your favourite colour?

A very deep, dark blood red.

would you prefer to travel by foot, bus, taxi, car, boat, train or areoplane?

Car. I'm a coward.

Thanks for the questions!

Hi again! Can you stand a few more food/cooking questions?

1. Which do you prefer, electric or gas? Which do you have?

2. Cookbooks: do you like them? What's your favourite one?

3. Are you primarily a recipe cook, or do you like to fly by the seat of your pants?

And then, maybe a few about travel...

1. What countries have you visited? Would you visit them again?

2. Which was your favourite overall?

3. Which was your favourite trip?

4. Would you live in any of them longterm?

I've not been on many huge bridges. I love going across the Rainbow Bridge into Niagara Falls.

We have some wonderful coastlines, do you have one you like to visit?

I would love to visit the Pacific coastlines. The Atlantic coastlines seem older somehow, more rounded and not as craggy. The Pacific coastlines, though, seem to be very ragged and pointed. And the Pacific Ocean is much bluer and more beautiful than the grey, greens of the Atlantic.

Do yo like social networking sites (you dont need to say if your part of one though)?

I'm on Facebook, but only because it's a way to keep up with my niece and nephew and my son sometimes. I don't actually get on Facebook that often. I have heard, though, that there are quite a few games to play that can become very addicting!

You say your a tequilla drinker do you have Silver or gold and do you have a worm in it?

No worms. Sorry. Gold. There's a bottle of Jose Cuervo Especial in my pantry. Have you ever eaten Tequila Lime Grilled Shrimp? OMG, so good! It's a staple on our grill during the summer. And sometimes during the winter, too.

What is your favourite game- either on the computer or a board game?

Monopoly. But DH and I are big Scrabble players, too. We play for blood and it can get ugly.

Do you have a favourite flower?

My favorite flower is the carnation. I also love peonies. And oriental poppies. Oh, and dahlias. And daylilies. (I have a lot of favorite flowers, I guess)

Do you have a favourite tree?

I love pink weeping cherries. We will be buying a wisteria for the side yard this spring. And I would like to have a weeping willow, but DH is worried about our septic bed. It seems that willows will go for the water.

These are good questions! And fun to answer!

If you like Scrabble and are on FB, you might want to check out Lexulous -- a version of Scrabble, with only enough modifications to keep the developers out of copyright trouble
-- I usually have about 15 games going at a time.

1. Which do you prefer, electric or gas? Which do you have?

My current stove/oven is electric. Ideally, I would like to have dual-energy. A gas stove with an electric oven. I have a double oven, one on top of the other. In my next life, I would like a Viking range with the side-by-side ovens.

2. Cookbooks: do you like them? What's your favourite one?

Uh-oh. My name is Pam and I'm addicted to cookbooks. It's a bad habit to get into. There are boxes of cookbooks in my closet. There are boxes of cookbooks under the bed. I have a bookcase for just cookbooks. But the thing is....I use them. If I can't find at least one really good recipe in a book, I won't buy it. The total number is well over 500 now. (But.....one of the people I "talk" with on another board has over 8,000 cookbooks!!) So I'm not that crazy. Yet.

I have several favorite cookbooks. The Bread Baker's Apprentice by Peter Reinhart contains some amazing bread recipes. I've made Roasted Onion and Asiago Miche....it takes 7 days to make, although most of that time is simply adding water and flour to the starter and combining. It only takes three days to actually make the bread. I've tried his ciabatta breads and the baguettes, too. They are excellent.

In the summer, I enjoy Stephen Raichlen's BBQ USA. Great book for grilling all kinds of food. The Louisville Wings (made with bourbon) is my favorite recipe, closely followed by Pulled Pork with Espresso BBQ Sauce. So good.

I have a lot of cookie books; you see, DH is quite the cookie monster, so I have to keep up with him. He loves to eat cookies; I love to bake them. It works.

Some of my favorites are the old Betty Crocker books. I got married at 16, so I couldn't even boil water. I'm serious....I actually boiled a tea kettle dry b/c I wasn't paying attention. Between my mother-in-law (who thought her poor son was going to starve) and Betty Crocker, I learned how to cook and bake. Despite the fact that I now have a ton of other cookbooks, I still come back to my old Betty Crocker books, too.

I'm working on my own cookbook, version 2. I did the first one when my son got married because he wanted the recipes he grew up with. He loves to cook, too. The second version is for my nieces, who have already requested copies. (See, I like to talk about cookbooks.)But here's the thing....when my grandmother passed away, we lost all of her recipes. She made the best sugar cookies; her sticky buns were out of this world good. And they're gone. My son and I wanted to make sure that didn't happen. Sometimes, the older recipes, the ones you grew up with, those are the ones that really matter. And they shouldn't just disappear.

3. Are you primarily a recipe cook, or do you like to fly by the seat of your pants?

Both. For cookies and cakes, I'll start out with a recipe the first time, but am thinking about what could be added. For other things, I may start with a recipe, but then I go off on my own tangent. Sometimes it works; other times....not so much. I enjoy working on my own bread recipes.

And then, maybe a few about travel...

1. What countries have you visited? Would you visit them again?

Since I don't fly, I've only been to Canada. And we try to go there every 2-3 years.

2. Which was your favourite overall?

Canada, since it's the only country I've ever visited.

3. Which was your favourite trip?

A couple years ago, we went to Niagara-on-the-Lake for our 35th anniversary. We stayed at a gorgeous B & B and walked everywhere. Very romantic with the huge four poster bed and the fireplace. After being out all day, we spent our evenings by the fire. It was spring and the tulips were blooming masses of color. It was beautiful.

4. Would you live in any of them longterm?

I'd like to operate a B & B there, but wow, those prices are expensive.

Neat questions! Thank you! I'm sorry that I've been "talking" so much.

Hey, no apology necessary! I'm really enjoying your answers! I love when people answer in more than six words.

There's a little food in this set, but it's mostly a hodgepodge...

1. Do you like veggies? What is your favourite?

2. Are your grandparents still alive? Do/did you know them well?

3. When you have a 'lazy' morning, how late do you sleep in?

4. Do you drive? Do you like to or is it a necessary evil?

5. What is your first language? What others do you know - not necessarily fluently, but enough to be understood?

6. How do you like your eggs cooked?

7. What is your favourite type of movie?

8. When you go to a movie do you stay to read the credits?

9. What behaviour would you ask your cats to explain, if they could speak?
