not sure if I'm on the right web site but i thought i would give it a try.

I'm a over the truck driver and i have come across a small family of cats stalking around a truck stop. usually i see most homeless animals as strays and move on but these cats have some how touched my heart while i personally can't do anything for them i thought i seek out some kinda web site with cat lovers and hope maybe someone can pass along this information.

so if there's anyone in the carlisle, pa area that can maybe come get these cats or atleast try or tell someone else you may know that can help i would appreciate it.

the cats location are in the cars parking lot of the petro stopping center aka petro truck stop the cats only come out at night and usually hang around the truck drivers side entrance and restaurant back doors. i feed them tonight 3 cans of cat food but there still hungry plus they gotta watch out for the mean truckers who kick at them and throw rocks.

OK i did my good deed for the day hopefully one of you cat lover in the carlisle, pa area be of some help.

p.s. my daughter has a cat so probably why i have a soft spot for cats.

Another of our members is an over-the-road hauler.. he talks about truck stop cats, too.

I will PM a moderator and have this post moved to the SOS section where people who can help are more likely to see it.

Probably the best anyone can do is to call around and see if there is a rescue group in Carlisle.

I know the truck stop. Been there many times over the last 30 years.

Cats do seem to congregate around truck stops, probably because of the leftover food in the trash cans.

There is a cat shelter in Carlisle. I've emailed one of the women who does some fostering for them. I'm sure she'll get back to me when she can. I hope so.

If she does get back to me, I will post something here.

You know most cats do like the company of another cat?

And it is much easier to foster a semiferal if you already do have a friendly cat at home home?

And as a rule of thumb, there are seldom issues between the semiferal, shy newcomer and the resident? The shy newcomer doing his outmost to adapt and copy.

(exceptions do occur, but as a rule of thumb - it holds very well)

Of course, before you let them meet, you must make a vet check up, deworming etc, on the new one, and preferably have a quarantine for at least one week, but that is next part of the story Im sure you and your daughter will walk along.

Tx for caring, and good luck!

She didn't get back to me yet. She prefers email, so I'm hoping that she's just really busy right now.

I'm sending mega prayers and vibes that those kitties get help very soon

My own Cinders was a rescue from the Coso Junction Rest Area along US 395 (middle of the Mojave desert), so this post really touched my heart.

She emailed me. She does fostering for cats, but she's not from the Carlisle area. I've emailed somebody else who might know what to do.

I got a response from my second email to another person.....

"I am going to forward your email to our cat rescue. She is based out of Hanover and is great with cats and kittens."

Hopefully, she will be able to get the cats and shelter them.
