I was up til 6am this morning helping Sora birth 4 lovely, healthy BIG kittens!

A slowish labour, last one was delayed for a while so I had to help her get one out from the birth canal due to it being breech and Sora being utterly knackered. Kappa subsequently had drowned a little bit but we cleared it's throat and nose and it's now trying to latch and having a little difficulty, so I'm eyedropping KMR until he's a little stronger.

The other three, Alpha, Beta and Omega are all SO strong and very cute!

Sora did EVER so well and even cut cords etc. She couldn't get them out of their sacs, so I just toweled them a little until the squeaked a little

I AM SO PROUD OF HER <3

Thank you! Seems Sora likes the KMR more than the kittens do!

It's good for her, too!

Has Max had his neuter? Sora can go back into heat any time. You don't want any more accidental litters!

If you do have a vet handy, try and phone her. Here is a very big risk for Kappa to develop nasty problems, ie pneumonia.
The vet may perhaps do something, perhaps antibiotics...

The most common cause for healthy well delivered kittens to die, is pneumonia catched because they got water in lungs during the labor.
It can go very fast, so phone the vet asap.

Good luck!

Congrats to the wonderful news!

So they young mother was nearer delivery then we alll though? Surprise, surprise.

They can!

Vet called! Kappa isn't having problems breathing anymore and is latching naturally.
She had a slight rattle when she (She looks like a she to me
) was born but it was mostly in her nose. We got that clear though

She's all nuzzly and suckling at momma and looking very happy!
She's had about 2.5/3ml of Cimicat KMR and has perked up loads and latching nicely. The rest are just hungry little things! I think Momma Sora has had away with the rest of the KMR, she loves it

Fex is due to go in this week for a neuter
We've got a new place, so he now can't get into the bedroom, due to there being 3 doors between here and the living room.

Congrats on the babies!! I've only got 2 more days till my Molly's due date, and I'm so excited!

About the liquid in the lungs. What I've read and done myself is cup the kitten in both hands and swing the kitten between your legs. The gravity of this will make the kitten then cough it out. It's worked for me in the past.

Good luck with the litter, also we need more pics!!!

Right, this so called slunging is very efficient. Many breeders do it as a routine with every single kitten.

But done wrongly it is dangerous. Its very easy to for example break off the neck of the kitten this way...

This is why we dont dare to recommend it for broad use, unless somebody knowleable do show and demonstrate you in person.

If you REALLY want to try anyway for yourself, do at least exercise a lot with a doll, or perhaps even better, a wet = slippery - bottle.
Till you are entirely sure you got the knack.

There are also other ways not so drastical, to suck out the water. But it also has its dangers...

I did a small sling that made her sneeze a little something out of her nose, then cleaned out her nose after that and she was fine

Don't think they'll need anymore KMR but I'll keep some handy just in case! They're all so full from momma milk!

She's been on the KMR too. Which is great. But it gives her horrendous gas sometimes

Yep! Daddy is black with white booties
Two of the kittens have skunk marking on their faces, it's totally adorable!

Also, with momma, how much time should she be spending in and out of the box with the kits? She seems to wander off occasionally but I don't want her out of there for too long just in case. Never more than half an hour or so. She even gets her food brought to her

For your new arrivals too!
