Feathers and all? (WARNING: graphic)

Jamie caught a blue tit this afternoon while we were outside walking. He's caught a few (very few) birds in the past, and has always plucked them before eating them and left the heads and feet. Today he walked around with the bird in his mouth for about 10 - 15 minutes, and then proceeded to eat the whole thing, meaning the only thing he left was the liver (at least it looked like a liver to me).

Any ideas why he would suddenly eat the whole bird? He wasn't "starving to death", and he didn't stalk the bird for very long seeing as he was on a leash. I didn't even see the moment he caught it. I think he just got lucky.

Oh dear, I have no idea, I would be interested to know aswell as Floss does this, she has got a thing about pigeons at the moment, all that's left is the feathers and the undigested seed out of its stomach. Its awful. x

No idea why he would eat the feathers, too. Sometimes a cat will, sometimes they'll pluck a few, and some cats want all the feathers off. It may depend on how comfortable and how much time they think they have to get their prey eaten.

Hmmm - maybe he was nervous because of "Xynthia". There have been some incredibly high winds. The poor bird may actually have been blown too close to Jamie.

I don't know either. Poor little birdie. RIP feathered friend!

So he probably was in a hurry - that would make a lot of sense.
I wouldn't be surprised if the bird was already injured from the storm. I don't know of many cats that are good enough at hunting birds to get one while on a leash. If that was the case, the bird probably wouldn't have lived anyways.
