Over the river and through the woods...
When you hear a noise in the next room and just know your cats are getting into something they shouldn't but by the time you get up and get in there they are all just sitting or laying there just looking at you innocently. Of course, they are laying or sitting in a circle around the area you know the noise came from because you just knew it was a screw they knocked off the table that they aren't supposed to be on to begin with. The screw can't be found and all cats are accounted for. It was like one of those old movie scenes where the kids were having a pillow fight but once the mom opened the door they were all pretending to be asleep.

I just hope one of them was sitting on it and was very uncomfortable the whole time I interregated them! (It was a BIG screw for the table so it wasn't something they could swallow...it's probably been batted under the basement door).

he he he! They know you will come looking too, they do it on purpose, because how dare you do something unsupervised by at least one cat! Whatever it is, it must be interrupted!

And then there is when I'm on the couch with two of them cozily curled up on me, and the third decides this is the perfect time to get into one of those types of no no situations.

Of course I don't want to disturb these warm purring kitties on top of me and hissing "get down!" only gets me a view of a backside and a disrespectful flip of the tail.

It's a plot, I tell you! They do it on purpose!

PS this discussion brings to mind a memory that exasperated me no end at the time, but now brings a smile. Mazy is the only kitty I've ever had, so far, who exhibits jealousy. And she was very jealous of all the special attention senior Ootay (rb 5/09) got.

Mazy cat took extra special delight in doing such defiant things when I was administering Ootay's sub q fluids. Things like climbing the sliding screen door, (leaping from the floor and clinging to it half way up, was she trying to be a moth?) or clawing at the screen in the kitchen window.

She'd go into the bathroom and kick all the litter out of Ootay's litter box, or knock things off the bathroom vanity.

She'd do these things only when I had Ootay on my lap, hooked up. She knew there wasn't anything I could do about it for those 7 minutes, the clever cat!

This thread is especially hilarious to me because literally the second I clicked on it, I heard a crash behind me as Holland knocked over a stack of DVDs that she shouldn't have been playing with in the first place. She's such a little trouble maker.

And even before I have the chance to hit the "submit reply" button she's stalked off like she has more important things to do.

They are so infuriating, why do we love them so?!?

Ahaha, oh yes, this thread is highly amusing!!

With our kitties, we always hear them getting into stuff in the kitchen. Now if it's Elliott, we'll yell at him from the living room and he comes running right in to us to suck up as if to say "What Mom, I'm a good kitty, REALLY I am!". The others, we'll yell at, but they'll ignore us, until they hear us get up and then they'll take off.

I've narrowed it down to two culprits in my household. Tomas or Sherman. Whichever one isn't visible is the one in trouble, so I usually yell from the other room "TOMAS/SHERMAN GET OUT OF THERE!" or get down. If I get the wrong name, the offending cat won't listen - if I get the correct name they move it.

Btw, My cats are use to us being loud in the house - such as one person yelling at another person from the other side of the house. They're not scared by it or other common loud noises.

I'm sure you'll find the screw under something the next time you're cleaning.

I always know when Lucy has been on the counters. I hear a thud as she jumps off and of course, I can't reprimand her because she's not currently on the counters.
