Was woken up at 5:30am this morning to my apartment shaking. It was the strongest earthquake I've been in. Rattled stuff right off my shelves for about 30 seconds. No serious damage though.

Rolled over to see where Aya was and found her frozen in place in the doorway to my bedroom all crouched down and with her ears flattened. You would not believe the look on her face!

Since no harm was done I figured it was a small one, but the reports I read said it was a 6.9 about 50km off the Okinawan main island.

Now, just to wait for the tsunami from Chile...

Very glad I live on a high hill.

Very strange but I dreamed of two earthquakes last night. DH says it was because it was on the alarm clock news...perhaps.

I'm glad you are okay. I heard the one south of Japan was 8.8 magnitude which is quite huge. There are alot of people dead and hurt in Chile though

Stay safe!

Scary! I'm glad you're alright!

Living in Southern California for the past almost 3 years, I get random anxiety about earthquakes... We had one 2 summers ago but it wasn't very big. Still scared the heck out of me though since it was my first one. It was like when a big truck goes by and rattles the windows and stuff, but bigger and longer. When I get those anxious thoughts, I put Genever's collar on when I leave the apartment, just in case... though we are on the 10th floor, so if something happened to our building that she got out, she probably wouldn't really get out. I try not to think about it though, since there's nothing i could do about it anyway. But enough doomsday speak.

Be safe!

Something is going on, Mother Nature seems to be really angry! My cousin and I were talking about this yesterday that the past couple years it has been one natural disaster after another!! And now they are getting closer together. Where my mom lives in upstate NY it has been snowing for like 4 days and no one can get out and 900,000 people are without electricity!! My mom included. Im trying not to read into it, but I just have a weird feeling about all thats going on. Im also feeling old cause technology has gone so far so fast it scares and confusses me.
Anyway, thank God you are ok.

There is a verse in the Bible:

"Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished."

Isaiah 51:6

I predict that verse will be appearing in many sermons this morning.

What expression did Aya have? Surprise? Fear? Maybe both?

Everyone we know in Chile is all right, except we haven't heard from some friends (a family). They have two boys, 10 and 12 years old, and they live in Santiago. We're a little concerned at the moment but figure they are probably okay.

Not really. It's not a supprting wall, only the doorway for the Japanese sliding doors.

And as for her expression, it was dark so I couldn't see clearly but it looked like either she was listening to someon sratch their nails down a chalkboard or balancing a heavy weight on top of her head. I've never seen a cat face like it before and it wasn't a happy look.

It came and went and was thankfully under un-impressive. We barely had 10cm here. they had 1.2 meter waves in Miyagi-ken and Iwate (way up north past Tokyo) on Sunday, but nothing here. They had tsunami warnings for pratcially the whole country and everybody evacuated the coastal areas (both for a possible Okinawan quake caused one and the Chilean tsunami)

This is the type of thing I've been wondering about lately. Maybe we are in the end times.
