It's 6:30 am on a Saturday and I should still be sleeping because it's my day off and the one day this weekend that I can actually sleep in!

However! At 5:30 am my phone rings and when I answer it I hear "Uh! Sorry to bother you, but can you open the door?"

It was a guy, and he sounded drunk. I said "NO!" and hung up the phone...or I thought I hung up the phone. Seems it was off the hook a bit, which is a good thing, because if he called back it would have been busy.

LOL!

Nat, sorry that happened. We get wrong numbers for all kinds of things and it's frustrating.

Drunk at 5:30 in the morn? I wonder how he got the association of your house and phone number? I would have called police immediately.

If I had to guess, I'd say the buzzer system in the lobby is through the telephone system...lots of systems are like that. My guess is that he hit the wrong button on the panel.

I guess you can be happy that you don't actually have to live with that person, unlike someone else in your building.

LOL Speaking of wrong numbers, the radio station I listen to has a number that is close to Pizza Hut. One morning on the way to work, the DJ was talking about how on a Friday or Saturday night they would get numerous calls for Pizza Hut. The one that made me laugh is when they answered the phone, "KAXL" There was a pause and then the person on the other end said "Uh... Is Pizza Hut there?"

But I am glad you didn't let him in. And I pity his poor wife having to put up with such shenanigans!

Yeah. That's exactly it. The phone is somehow tied to the intercom downstairs. They dial the apartment number and it rings on our telephone.

When I hung up the phone I didn't hang it up properly so it was off the hook. When I turned over I thought I heard faint beeping. When I got up I saw the phone off the hook and realized that I did hear beeping. He must have been dialing either my line again or another one.

There are 8 1/2 floors in this building, 82 apartments! I seriously don't get why mine is chosen so often!
I live on the 7th floor and my name/apt number is not even close to being at the top of the list. In fact the listing is divided into 2 columns with my name and apartment number being near the bottom of the first column.

I've had the police ring me to let them into the building on 2 occasions, my neighbour upstairs because he forgot his outside door key (that one I can understand), delivery drivers, food drivers, and a few drunks like last night.

I've met and dated 2 guys that I met through wrong numbers.

They were both due to crossed lines.

The first guy I talked to for a few weeks before meeting. We ended up dating for almost 2 years.

The next one was a radio announcer. I was trying to phone a decorating company but somehow kept getting put through to this radio station. Anyway, after the 3rd or 4th try, he offered to take my phone number and phone them and leave a message for them to call me back.
So I gave him my number and he phoned and left a message for me and then called me back to say he had done that. One thing led to another and we got to talking, and soon were talking nearly every evening. We eventually met and dated for a few months.
