Hi All, I posted last night worried about Jenna's strange behavior and pregnancy. I spoke with a vet today by phone who told me to wait the weekend...nothing I said sounding "off" to him.

Anyway, tonight she wouldn't leave my side for a second except if she even saw my dog and then she would aggressively attack her (even if it meant running across the room). So...I modified the plan and moved the kittening box into the LR with me and my computer and quarantined Ginger (dog) in the bedrooms.

The two were easy. I was petting her from inside the box with her just purring away and then she let out one loud, long yelp and there it was. CAUGHT ME WAY OFF GUARD! I had no idea she was that close. Second one about 15 minutes later.

(as of 3:15am) I might be a "worrier" cause now I'm concerned something is wrong because she appears to be sleeping sound as a baby...it's been at least an hour and a half since she had her second one. Anyone know if I should be calling the emergency vet???

Her two kittens are in a warm secondary box because she was moving all over the place...I'm swapping them back in the box with her (one at a time...b/c I read that on the internet too). They are adorable...please let me know if you hear anything that is a need for concern...otherwise, YEAH!!!

WOW, 2-hour delay between second kitten and second placenta.

That's not unusual and if she is sleeping soundly after her second one, it's probably the end of her pregnancy and on to the lactating stage. Are the babies feeding?

Awn,congradulations! It's not too uncommon for there to be some time between kittens or even placentas. Have you been with her the whole time? If you weren't it's possible that she delivered it and ate it, but you don't want to take too many chances because a placenta inside her could make her very sick. For now just wait, she may just have two in the end.
Anyway, goodluck, keep us updated on your progress

Bless her! I don't think it's uncommon, Sora still had one to go and slept for a few hours whilst the first three latched. It only gets a little worrying if theres no placenta after a while, or contractions/straining that produce nothing after an hour or so.

Cats can postpone labour if they're tired, threatened or sickly I think.

My cat had 2 kittens a few years ago, I thought she was done, was resting comfortably and nursing the kittens... I stayed up for a couple of hours afterwards, watching, making sure everything was okay... I woke up the next morning to 3 kittens! So, that being said, don't be surprised if she has more! Be watchful and make sure she isn't still in labor and no abnormal behavior from mom or the kittens. Make sure the kitties are nursing, and mom is bright, alert, and responsive. If at any time mommy or the kittens start acting lethargic, you want to get to a vet as soon as possible, as these could be signs of eclampsia (more commonly known as milk fever) or other problems.

Otherwise, take care of your precious new additions and congratulations! I hope all goes well!

Okie
