I thought it might be interesting to discuss or share our ideas about whether a cat adoption works best if the previous owner delivers the cat to the new home, or if the new owner should take the cat from one home to the new one?

I kind of think that it would be best for the previous owner to drop off the cat, that would make it easier on the cat and the new owner. Rather than have the cat think it has been "taken away" from its home.

Any thoughts?

I really don't think it matters to the kitty either way as long as it is done with love and patience.

With my fosters, when there is a successful application, I meet the adopters right at the shelter where they finish signing the papers, pay the fees, the kitties have their booster, are dewormed and microchipped and then go home with their new family but ONLY after I make sure the new adopters promise to email me updates on a regular basis.

Drop off, unless you make a home visit to meet them before they adopt. I don't think it matters to the cat. But it's important, when possible, to see the home they're going to. Before we had this policy, we adopted cats we had to rescue back. Had we seen the home (which we saw when we went to rescue them back) we never would have completed the adoption.
