Marshy has this huge gash on his ear... it looks like a chunk has been taking out of it. The vet said that it is either due to excessive scratching (b/c of the ear mites) or to a catfight. It had scabbed over and was starting to look good, but I just noticed that Marshy has scratched the entire scab off. *sigh* The vet said that it was on its way to healing, but if he keeps scratching at it, I know it never will. Does anyone have any suggesting as to what I can do to keep Marshy's claws off of it? For how I can go about cleaning it now that it's open? TIA

So far out in left field I got lost
Hey my kitty Oscar had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago and he scratched a hole behind both of his ears. The vet put one of the Elizabethain collars(he looked like a cone head)
on him so he couldn't scratch it open again. You may want to look into getting one of those for your kitty.

Trimming the claws will help- but the elizabethian collar is the way to go to let it heal.

I figured as much. The cut is pretty large though, and by the looks of it, it will take quite a bit of time to heal... I worry about having to keep Marshy in ithe collar for so long... I don't think he'll like it very much.

... we got his nails trimed on Tuesday.

Thanks (=

Rude? Not at all... at least, if you were, I didn't pick up on it.
