Normally, I feel really bad leaving a kitty there, but she was so bad it was a relief really. I knew they could take care of her and I couldn't. I'm starting to feel bad now though, since they told me she was cranky. Poor sweet kitty.

You'd be cranky too if you were stuck in a cage with weird noises, other cats & dogs you can't see and people poking and prodding you. Even though it's the best place for her to be, it's still tough leaving them there.

Hannah was at the vet's for 4 days after we first got her because she was so sick and I knew I didn't know how to care for her. They didn't think she'd survive the first night, which I'm glad I didn't know at the time, but she pulled through and is now doing great. I would visit her daily, sometimes 2x day, and she'd eat then curl up and sleep. It was just about the only time she'd eat a healthy portion during the day.

It's so wonderful to find a place where there are so many people like me and my family. I just wanted to tell you that even though she is cranky at the vet, just think how happy she will be when she gets out of there!!

You are a sweet person, and the money will come back to you somehow. You are saving a life and there's nothing more rewarding (in my opinion) that doing that.

Another Wil update.

Her fever is gone, but she still isn't eating. I didn't get a chance to visit yesterday, so they want me to come today with some tuna. They think she's stressed out. Ugh, now I feel bad for not going yesterday!

All paws crossed that she will eat for you today.

Bring something you've worn (slept in is best) for her to have when you are gone so she has your smell near her. Even if you already have, she will need something with fresh smell of you. (nothing you value, as you may not get it back)

Good news that her fever is gone, though!

I'm not sure how much that would help, she's an outside kitty, but I'll try it. Thanks!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
to you and many to Wil. !!!! We don't visit our kitties in the hospital anymore - it just stresses them out more when they think they're going home and then don't. Each kitty is different - but with the two that get hospitalized most often, it's worse when we visit. Don't stress you didn't make it the other day - it may actually be easier on her if you don't see her.

....I guess you'll find out.
Do take something with your smell on it, that will help.

I totally forgot to bring something with my scent on it! I felt bad when I got there, she was so happy to see me. But she wouldn't eat the tuna! All she wanted was for me to pet her. Now she has to stay another night. I sure hope she eats. I didn't think to bring some dry food she normally eats to her, but I will tomorrow. Poor girl. And she sleeps in her litter box like Abbey did when I first brought her inside.

I guess it does depend on the cat. I think visits are good because it shows kitty that even though you leave, you always come back again. How long the kitty will be in hospital might be a factor, also.

I'm sorry to hear Wil didn't eat. It's hard to judge appetite when kitty is in such a strange and stressful place, it's natural for her to not want to eat. Were you allowed to be with her in a room without the cage?

It's a good sign that she was so happy to see you! I'm sure she's stressed! Who wouldn't be? One of the things I do for my kitties when I have to leave them at the vet's for the day is to include a small baggie of their food. I even leave some when they have procedures done just in case they wake up hungry or something like that.

As for something with your smell on it, you'd be surprised how much she knows you by your scent. It might help her to calm down if she does end up staying longer.

Continuing to send healing prayers!

She had to stay in her cage. I would have held her but she's not a fan of being held at all. She just wanted me to pet her, I'd try to give her a bite of tuna and she'd headbutt my hand. I wish she would eat so she can come home.

Ok, Wil's still not eating. So, I'm gonna bring some of her regular dry food and get some wet food that she likes. She's gonna stay one more night (ugh! FOUR nights) and then come home tomorrow and see if she'll eat here. I'm not sure if being here will help, I'll have to keep her in the bathroom and she's used to being outside. I can't let her outside while she's so sick though. I'm just not sure what to do.

You really are in a tough position regarding Wil and her special circumstance.

Does she have a special bed or crate she uses outside, that can be brought into the bathroom?

That's a good idea. I have a cat shelter out there. It will be a very tight squeeze in the bathroom, but I bet she would be comfy in there. And that would stop her from sleeping in her litter box. Oh, I really wish I had an extra bedroom. Or an extra bathroom. Or just a bigger bathroom!!!

Ask the vet for an appetite stimulant and if she likes canned food and can eat it, the Science Diet a/d. Almost all kitties love that and WANT it!

Is she home yet?
