I have a George Foreman grill, and when I first got it I loved it. But I quickly grew tired of how difficult it was to clean after using. So for a few years it sat on my counter gathering dust and just taking up space. This is the one I have:

Not only is it hard to clean because you can't remove the plates, but it doesn't cook very well. The lid is split so the part of the food where it crosses between the lids, doesn't cook properly. Also the hinge doesn't really adjust to accommodate different thicknesses of food, so if the food isn't a certain thickness, the lid sits at an angle and doesn't cook. Add to that that the top part cooks hotter and faster than the bottom resulting in one side nearly burned and the other pale.

I was at Sears on Saturday looking for a fan and passed by the kitchen stuff. I saw a Hamilton Beach grill on sale and it was also scratch and save day. I scratched an additional 10% off of the sale price, so I bought it!

Here is my new grill! I absolutely love it. I can actually see me using it every day to make dinner because it's easy to clean: the plate removes and it's dishwasher safe and submersible in water! And the best part is I don't have to worry about grease dripping off the end and overflowing a plastic fat catcher tray!

I just cooked a steak on it and for the first time in I can't recall how long, I actually have a medium rare steak and it has actual grill marks on it! LOL

I'm giving my cleaning girl the George Foreman one. She's excited about that!!

We have the same one (the new one). It is great, I use it for grilling salmon fillets or mackerel

Do you get another plate for it that is flat? I need one of those but we don't seem to have them here
I had a big clunky George Foreman grill and I gave it away to my brother's ex girlfriend (whom I am still friends with) as I never use it. It was too much for me. But one like your new one would be perfect for me!!

Sounds yummy!

Tomorrow I planned dinner to be grilled potato slices and mango/papya/coconut crusted Tilapia. I buy it from the butcher counter and it's really yummy! Unfortunately it didn't cook well with the other grill, and it broke apart and stuck all over the frying pan. So hopefully with a liberal spraying of PAM, I can have properly grilled fish.

I just washed the Hamilton Beach. I can't believe how easy it is to clean. I wish I had purchased this type of grill before. It's so much more versatile having an open face grill than one with a hinged lid.

I thought there would be grease splatter but there wasn't. I'm pleasantly surprised with that.

Tomorrow for lunch I'm having left overs. Tonight I just had a steak with some sliced tomatoes. I didn't feel up to cooking more than that because it's getting on into the evening. Tomorrow I'm having a salad with the rest of the steak sliced up. Stan cut me huge steaks!!!
I probably could have made 3 meals of the one steak, but I was hungry tonight and had been craving a medium rare steak for eons!

No, it's just a grill, no flat griddle.
They do sell flat griddle types too though. But I didn't see any that had a combination. I too would like a flat griddle for cooking instead of a frying pan, especially for things like pancakes.

Mmmmm! Pancakes!!! I haven't had pancakes for sooo long!!! I want some.

But I've lost 25 lbs since November and can't afford pancakes, at least until I've lost 25 more and then I swear.....I will celebrate with PANCAKES!!!!

I love grilled potatoes, reminds me of camping and cooking them on fire

You can also make shish kebabs, it's so easy and they turn out good even if you don't do any special marinade or spices for the meat with just some bell peppers, mushrooms and onions. I think grilling this way is very healthy too
well, if the meat is lean...

My old waffle iron flipped over into a flat griddle for making pancakes. I love pancakes like that rather than fried.

I bought a george forman grill back in December and I love it. I don't find them hard to clean. Just use the scraper and then wipe off with a cloth.

We haven't used our George Foreman grill in years either, actually we're trying to sell/give it away.
I can see us using something like that open top grill though...

We have a GF party grill. I first saw one when we visited with friends and she did our chicken, baked potatoes, and veggies in it. I thought that was really neat. It took several years til we found one, but I use it quite often. I do have to be careful when cleaning it because the mechanism can't get wet. But I love the way it cooks. Took me awhile to get the hang of it, though.

We have an outdoor griddle that came with our grill. It's fantastic! We'll flop bacon on it, do eggs, French toast, potato wedges, pancakes, everything. In the summer, we love doing our weekend breakfast on the grill.

I like pancakes, but I love waffles! Yum! Our old waffle iron flipped over for pancakes, too. Our new one doesn't do that.
