Lost #3, the red boy. =( The calico girl is hanging in there but lost some weight. She has been nursing but I'm supplimenting her as well. The blue torbie girl also lost some weight, I'm going to see about having her foot amputated, it's swollen and purple. The rest have gained some weight, the brown tabby boy gained a lot, he's now up to 110g.

I am sorry that the red boy did not make it.

I wonder if the torbi's foot was broken when mommy accidently got her toes? That may be why it is swollen and purple, I would get an xray or call the vet to see if anything can be done to help it heal, since she is very young.

that the others pick up weight and stay healthy.

I am sending lots of to you.
It is normal in the first day to loose a bit of weight (not all kittens do, but it can happen). In the following days, they should be gaining weight. Keep up the good work. I am so sorry for the one you lost.

Good thing going to ther vet and ask about your options for the one with the swollen foot. When at the vet, you might want to ask him/her about how to make these babies gain weight. I've seen tiny kitten like your calico being feed with a tube that goes directly into the stomach and be saved like that. She is so tiny, she can't afford to loose any weight. What you are doing for them is awesome. Again, lots of vibes to you. I hope the rest of them all make it, but if they don't they will have had a lot more chances and love than in a crowded shelter or out in the streets.

Sorry I haven't updated. I've been busy with round the clock feedings. Unfortunately, we lost three more kittens despite all my efforts. The torbie girl with the missing toes, the little calico girl, and the black boy joined the red one across the bridge. =/

Remaining four and mom are doing good now, weights are consistently gaining. I'm down to just supplementing as they're nursing like little champs. I'm going with Olympic champions for names, so we have:

Bode:

Shaun:

Evan:

And Lindsey (who is indeed a blue cream calico):

Oh hun, I am SO sorry about the little ones that were lost.
I have been through that so many times myself and it never gets any easier. I am however very happy that the Mom and remaining babes are doing well. They are GORGEOUS!

Awww, so sorry about the little babies you lost, but at least they had you to love them and care for them for a little while. Bless you! Glad the 4 remaining are doing well. How's mom doing?

Sorry about the kittens who passed.

The names for the others are so cute. Maybe Evan (the kitten) should be Bode because he's blond and Bode (the man) is blond
and the tabby should be Evan because Evan (the man) is brunette

Sorry for your loss
the others look great though! I love their colours too and name ideas. How's mom doing? Do you know if your other kitty is pregnant yet?

To be honest? I was going to name the brownie Shani (the African American speedskater)... but changed it to Bode because I figured, at least in this area, he would have a greater chance at adoption with Bode's name than Shani's. =/

I was beginning to doubt if Becky was pregnant, but now I'm not so sure again. She's only 8mos old so I doubt she's had a litter before, yet she has nipples... Her belly is looking round again and is firm, I thought I felt a few tiny kicks but it might just have been normal digestion. Other than those tiny little kicks I haven't felt anything, so I'm hoping it's a falsey.

So sorry for the kittens you lost. They are now playing over the rainbow.

Keep us posted on the other 4, they are so adorable!

I see the there is a lack, and the need, of the song of Shani to be sing.

Give this name to a cat you do adopt yourself. Or if you do get an adopting family you trust on.

*Fingers crossed*! How long has it been since you took them in?

I've had them three weeks now, and now I'm certain Becky is pregnant as well.

Lost the Brown tabby early in the week, remaining three kittens all have URIs. Their eyes had started to open but were glued shut with crust the next day. They and mom are on Zithromax now, seem to be doing better in that their eyes are less and less crusty every day.

This all has been so frustrating. The first litter I raised went so perfectly, and this litter has been like everything that can go wrong, has.

It must be so hard for you. I am sorry.
I hope your other foster cat and her future kittens won't catch URIs too. Hang in there, you are doing great.
