I love Feliway plug in diffusers!

It's been a while since I've used the feliway plug in, not having needed it really.

The backround:

This week however I am doing a job that requires me having a developmentally disabled young woman staying with me all week. The cats already know her, and she has stayed overnight before, but not for days and days.

Because of my special needs cats, we cannot sleep at her house. So we get up at 5:45 a.m., I give Tolly his liver pill, then we go to her house so I can get her ready for work (she goes to sheltered workshop) after I take her, I come home and get ready for my own work, and feed the cats, etc etc. And in the evening, when they are used to it being just me and them, of course she is here too, which changes our routine and I have less time and energy to spend on them.

M has a severe seizure disorder that causes me to lie awake all night long listening for seizures. After three nights of this, not to mention the odd schedule we must keep, I had become a walking Zombie, but not so out of it I didn't notice the cats were beginning to look a little rough around the edges too. And then, Wednesday night she finally had a series of seizures (she has them only when sleeping). They were quite violent and the cats were very stressed.

It wasn't until the following morning, when I came back home after bringing M to work, I sat on the floor with them and as they swarmed around me I kind of wept over them, (having not slept in about 80 hours my emotions weren't very controllable) that it occurred to me that I should have been using the feliway plug in all week!

So I plugged it in Thursday morning, and by Friday afternoon they were well on their way to looking and acting back to normal and not as stressed. In fact when we came home last night I could see that all three of them had had thorough baths (they had been looking a little seedy) so of course I dosed them all with hairball remedy, much to their annoyance.

This morning the feliway has been in place for 48 hours and they are acting quite normal, in spite of another episode of seizures in the middle of the night.

I love Feliway plug in diffusers!!!

I really REALLY wish they were available around here. I can't even order them online as I don't have a credit card. I have discussed the possiblity of the local pet supply stores getting them in though and am keeping my fingers crossed.

I too love the plug in diffuser. It's saved me many times.

What you do is truly incredible. You must be a very special person to be able to help others like that. I admire your character.

Can someone order for you online, and you pay them? Or maybe you can buy a visa gift card at a supermarket or pharmacy, then you can use it to buy it online... It works like a credit card

Yes, I'm going to see what I can do. Not that there is a lot of stress or behaviorial issues around here BUT being a multicat household, I want to do whatever I can to make my kitties happier.

I also love it... I used it every time I brought in a new kitty home... I also use the spray a lot for vet trips, or when I had to start giving Bugsy meds... I would just spray my clothes with it.
Feliway really helps a kitty with Herpes...

i might be wrong but i think they're designed for U.S. electrical outlets if that makes a difference

This might sound like a silly question but does the Feliway diffuser have any type of smell or fragrance? I'm very sensitive to different odors and get migraines from perfume, rood deodorizers, scented candles, etc.

Thank you for your kind words. I can't deny that this kind of work isn't for everybody. But I do love it!

Absolutely none. I am super hyper sensitive to smells (and all the other senses too, I have a sensory intolerance disorder) and I cannot smell anything from the feliway diffuser. If I put my nose right up to it and sniff deep there is the tiniest of..not exactly scent, more like a smell of warmth.

Thanks for the replies on the Feliway not having any scent or odors. All the more reason for me to give it a try.
