That is exactly what Abby does!!!!

When I first got Abby she was 4 months old. She tried darn hard to not have to get her little paws into that cat litter, even if it was freshly scooped or new. She would get in and try so hard to perch all 4 paws on the edge of the pan and have her bum hang in. She never succeeded because she would tip the pan and get thrown off. So she begrudgingly started leaving one hind leg in the pan and perching the other 3 on the side of the pan, usually in a corner. She does her business (#1 or #2), then she scoops the floor in front of her and literally leaps out shaking that one leg that was in the pan.
Sometimes she will get in on one end, immediately start to pee at the edge and then walk her way while peeing, to the opposite end and perch herself and finish. Thus leaving a trail of pee in the pan

If I would have thought about it and knew how to do it, she would have been a natural for training to use the toilet instead of the litter box. I think she would have preferred it actually!

I always know who has been in the pan by where the goodies have been left and whether they have been buried or not.
