We went to see Ovo tonight which is the most recent Cirque du Soleil show to come to our town and it was awesome! This is the 4th Cirque show we've seen now, and the creativity, imagination, costumes and sets are fabulous.

There was a gorgeous ropes routine, a breathtaking trapeze act, a tightrope act on a LOOSE rope (I have no idea how he did it), and the grand finale was a big trampoline act which was very cool. All the in between stuff - various juggling things, acrobatics etc., comedic interudes were also top quality as expected.

What was funny was how active my wee dainty little girl was in my belly
I was seriously being assaulted in the final act when the drums and bass were really going strong - my little one has never been that active before! She was kicking me SO hard!!!! And she was wriggling and kicking and kicking and wriggling... At first it was funny, then it got kinda painful. DH was laughing at me going "wow! wow! OOF! wowwwwww! OOF!"

This link has some of the acts: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/sho...show/acts.aspx

Woooo Hoooo! I'm going to see Cirque du Soleil "Alegreia" on April 3rd. I bought the music CD and performance DVD, and fell in love with it. I can't wait! I have'nt see Ovo, but I've seen Varekai and Saltimbanco. A couple of years ago there was a TV show featuring Cirque du Soleil....I never missed it. It is SO fascinating.

The music is so powerful, and beautiful....it doesn't surprise me that your little girl was all excited and in tune to it!

I've only seen portions of a show on TV but find them fascinating.

I've been told a great-uncle (by marriage) traveled with a circus for a while and did a "slack-rope" act. It came in handy one day when he needed to get from one barn loft to the other and he didn't want to climb down and back up. Unfortunately, great-aunt caught him doing it and made him take the rope down. I hear great-aunt had a way of putting her foot down.

I just love all the Cirque du Soleil shows but only have seen them on TV. Some of the things those people do is unbelievable. I heard that the latest one is about Elvis, it was talked about on Larry King Live last night but I only caught part of the show.

Sounds great! I never saw any of those but would like to someday. BF and I went to Vegas a few weeks ago for his birthday, and we were going to get tix to see the CdS LOVE show, the one with all Beatles music. But we were staying in the downtown/Freemont Street area and we figured out it would just be way too much time and hassle to be going between the Strip and Downtown for the show. So we are planning to definitely do it the next time we go, and we'll stay closer.

Sounds like your little one might be a dancer herself someday, kicking to the drums and whatnot!

Lucky you!!!

Kooza is coming to Vancouver this summer, and all things being equal we will go. We haven't missed a Cirque show since we went to Quidam in 2004? 2005? We've seen Varekai and Corteo since then live, and Allegria on DVD.

Class acts, every one.

We've seen Kooza and Corteo and we loved both. Kooza in particular was awesome - it's worth seeing just for the "Wheel of Death" act!

Thank you for that recommendation. All the more reason to make sure we do see Kooza.

They all sound awesome! I would love to go one day. DH & I are planning a trip to Vega "one day" and that's on the list to do.
Sarah, your little girl will be a dancer alright!
